Bad idea. He was my second favorite QB of this draft and I watched all his game action this preseason and I think he's going to be a very very good QB in this league but even as good as he looked last night, he has some happy feet and he's going to have to gain some confidence before they throw him to the wolves, especially against Rex and that front 7. It'll be a disaster for Carr. Let Schaub take his lumps and work Carr in in 4-5 games. Raiders got a keeper, they shouldn't ruin the kid in his first start. _
All I know is we better win this game because we are staring at one of the toughest first half schedules in the entire NFL.But with that said the last time this team made the playoffs is when we played the NFC North during the regular season, will history repeat itself?
Week 11 was Manuel's second crack at the defense. The first time he faced them, he went 19/42 for 243 yards. Quality day.... I put more stock into the early season one (week 3) as it was his first look at the defense and it was one of his first NFL games, so it is much more similar to the situation Carr will be facing. Also, last year was Tannehill's second season. The term "Rookie season" refers to a player's 1st season.
really? they have the NFC West which is a real tough 4 games. But they also have the NFC East and AFC South. i don't like the first half of our schedule at all. I'd take their schedule.
with the Cowboy defense, those games will be tough. All their games will be tough with that sorry defense. but they also face the Giants and Redskins twice, the Texans, Jaguars, Titans.... Colts are not unbeatable either.
Yeah maybe you're right. I have my brother in law crying to me about how brutal their schedule is constantly, when you really look at it, it's not as bad as it is at first glance. Oakland may have the toughest row to hoe, actually. They play in a very tough division as it is, but the also play the NFC West and have the Pats on their schedule as well.
yeah everyone cries about their schedule, including us... lol with this much parity, it's just how it is unless your team is stacked. things change quickly tho. Last year the NFC South looked like the best division in football heading into the season, and we went 3-1 against em..
I said "I believe" I didnt say it was a fact. I just remember hearing some sports commentator doing a piece on it sometime in 2012. Technically Tannehill wasnt a rookie last year and we also beat up EJ the first time we saw him last year as well.
http://www.jetsconfidential.com/news/rex-ryan-excellent-against-rookie-quarterbacks/ according to article, rookie QB's went 1-6 against Ryan, with 47% completion avg, and a 57 passer rating. The article i think was written prior to the Nov Bills game, so i guess the record is actually 2-6 against Ryan, but it's still damn impressive on Ryan's part. here's hoping Carr starts
Carr looked great against Seattles D last night. 3 TD's and I know atleast one was against their first team D and he threw completions against Sherman too. If you think the Raiders are going to be an easy win, especially with out secondary, I'd rethink it. Hopefully Geno and the boys score enough to not have to worry about it.
This is a wild card, he could either shit the bed or light us up, I think this is good for us but thats why the games are played, I'll give more insight once I know the starting depth chart for both teams.
Yup... Raiders are gonna be good. Khalil Mack is the truth. But on topic were gonna tear Derek Carr's head off. Im sorry. They have a good team though overall, but a young QB vs a angry Rex D just doesnt equal success. I know EJ had his game on us where he lit us up but what about the first game when he was introduced to Rex for the first time? Got that ass walked on. EJ had the luxury of facing us again so preparation and game planning was different 2nd time around.
Officially it's still Matt Schaub as of Friday. Carr lit it up on Thursday night so this guy is dangerously good. Jets need to blitz whoever starts to death and cause fumbles, interceptions, push receivers off routes, Pryor puts their QB on backetc. Secondary can allow some short yardage but should avoid giving up the big TD. We also need to pick up first downs and keep Carr and company off the field. Big help on the way if Idzik breaks piggy bank for a FA CB.
