We should make the Saints a cheap offer for Jameis Winston. I'll bet they'd love to clear as much of his cap hit as they can right now.
https://jetsxfactor.com/2023/02/14/...ykanFqq9XXCUwNTnBc_OZ-v6S0NpZNTdWRHhwe2BHq8uI Hmm.. I guess Saleh isn't the great HC in training some around here think he is.. Hard to believe a guy with only several years as an HC would be so rigid in his managing style. Its not like he's winning a ton of games and with all the weird shit happening at the end of the season last year, maybe Carr doesn't want or need to deal with it. Perhaps Rodgers doesn't want to either.
"However, there’s a catch: the Jets themselves have not given their quarterbacks—or any player, for that matter—any autonomy during the Robert Saleh regime. The extent of an audible you’ll ever see is a “can” audible, in which case two plays were called in the huddle and the quarterback selects the one that matches the coverage he sees. That’s not true autonomy." LOL.... because there was definitely a QB under center that I'd trust to call the shots....
Gotta call some BS on this one. No one in their right mind was giving Zach Wilson or Mike White audibling privileges and Flacco probably didn't care enough. When someone takes over who is capable of reading the defense pre-snap I'd be willing to bet they are allowed to audible.
And this is why I finally made him the first, and only, person I've put on Ignore. My posting experience has improved 1000%. Try it yourself, you'll like it.
If that's true - Saleh not allowing the QBs or the defensive captains the flexibility of making changes at the LOS, he needs to go away. I'm so sick of thse micromanaging coaches that think they have a better feel for what's happening on the field than the players. I understand it when you're talking about a young QB, but even he should be allowed some flexibility because that's how you learn. More and more I'm getting the feeling that this year will be another wasted year before yet another purge and rebuild.
Defensively you are probably right especially when you have someone like Mosley basically running point on the field. Offensively, I wouldn’t trust a single person we’ve had under center the last two years to take a shortcut driving a bike let alone call an audible on a football field.
The only way to teach a kid how to ride a bike is to take the training wheels off, as painful as it might be to watch the learning process.
well when the kid can’t even sit on the bike when it’s stationary I understand not wanting to take the training wheels off
Ever try sitting on a bike when it's stationary? It's actually much easier to find balance when it's moving.
Let’s kill the bike analogy. Wilson had no fucking clue which way was up. To pretend the game would come to him easier if he was being asked to read defenses presnap and change the play when he could barely execute the playbook is just crazy.
In your opinion. I'm not suggesting that he should've been given free rein all the time, but he should've (as well as MW) been allowed to occasionally change things based on what he was seeing and experiencing.
I don't know, I think I would have trusted Flacco to audible out of one of the jailbreak blitzes he had coming at him. There might be some merit to that comment.
Fair enough... but watching him play, sometimes I wondered if he even knew the playcall.... or the CS's passive aggressive of way of throwing him to the wolves.. "You TRADED a pick to get this guy BACK?!?" (to be fair, I felt that way) and these bike analogies are like Lance Armstrong peddling fullspeed into a brick wall.... if he had BOTH testicles
Carr had 3 Pro Bowl seasons with Downing. Rivka is smart, particularly when it comes to analytics, but MILF is out and passing coordinator who had 3 Pro Bowl seasons with Carr and OC who coached Rodgers (who had freedom to change the play any time) to some of his most successful seasons are in. To say they will both change their philosophies and control Carr because Saleh will demand that is a bit of a stretch. I think Carr will be OK if he comes here.
I think with any option we draft a QB in 2024 if ZW doesn’t take the next step. AR = Mid/Late 1st DC = Late round T, JG = Early 1st
The reason for T is bc I don’t trust Jimmy Glass to play a whole season and don’t really want ZW to see the field this year. Also, T is dirt cheap in 2024 and it seems like it would be an easier transition into a developed ZW or a 2024 draft pick. If Jimmy wasn’t made of glass, he’d be my #2 ahead of DC
Spot on about Jimmy. I also have major concerns about how much of SF success was actually b/c of Jimmy. That roster has been loaded for years and it's worrisome to me that that Brock Purdy can come in and get them to the NFCCG on a 10 or 11 game win streak.
