Maybe. But Stafford has been consistently throwing for 4000yds since he was his rookie year in the season. He was just stuck in Detroit. Carr took 4 years to hit 4000 yds.
We don't even need Carr to be Stafford. This offense really does hum with good Oline play and a solid running game, it doesn't require more than a somewhat competent game manager. Zach is just so bad that it was easy to lose sight of that. Every QB not named Wilson or Flacco was effective in this offense, and Flacco just doesn't give a shit, although he showed a pulse against Cleveland. If the Jets sign Carr and he plays above average and they can find a way to limit the turnovers, I think he's good enough to win a Super Bowl with the team as it is currently comprised..
If Derek Carr was an automobile, he'd be a Mustang, which is the poor man's Corvette. Why should the Jets even consider paying a premium price for the potentially substandard performance Carr is most likely to provide? With the exception of the KC Chiefs, the AFC West hasn't been all that the past nine seasons. Sure, Carr may know how to play, but does he know how to win?
No way they keep Zach if they trade for Carr. Wilson is 3rd string at that point. Moore ran himself off this team with his trade request at the beginning of the season. You have to give to receive and the Jets aren't dealing from a position of strength.
Davante Adams is also in the mix. If McDaniels had issues with Carr, he most certainly will have issues with Adams. Now you have the basis for a trade as the Raider HC will rid himself of both Adams and Carr and the Jets rid themselves of Wilson and Moore. Now I realize this probably won't happen, but a guy can dream. Happy New Year!!
Nobody is making White the franchise right now. It’s the hand White was dealt as a late draft pick, but White doesn’t get the benefit of banging milfs and screwing around for 2 years. He literally gets 3 games to prove himself. 3 games in which he must be absolutely perfect. Then I’d consider signing him for 3 years, and I’d still advocate for using a 1st on a QB this year or next. I expect him to win out and at least 1 playoff game. Anything less and he’s out the door.
Trading productive players and/or draft capital for a QB about to turn 32 coming off back to back 14 INT seasons that has been the QB of 2 teams over .500 in 9 tries who also happens to have a terrible contract is about as Jets as it gets. Hopefully Douglas continues the trends of not doing things the Jets way.
NFL Network just said Jets are sticking with Zach. Looks to be MW re-signing and open competition next year.
I can... I'm just one guy though.. Oh great... Another shitshow at the QB position in '23. Can't wait..
It's ok, if they stick with ZW next year we'll get a clean sweep of the stables at the end of the season. At least there will be that to look forward too.
