Forget the QB..it helps w/fumbles and center snaps
And please don't go there about hating the Pats.

Why would you think Goodell in any way would help the Pats? He clearly set up a sting operation on them last Sunday, and now it's blowing up in his face!

So they want their HOF QB to throw a ball he doesn't want to throw? Yeah that sounds reasonable. Again it seems they spent the week trying to find a reason for the drop and it seems they did. Maybe now they can actually get ready for the game.

So he set up a sting to compromise an AFC Championship game and he didn't have 10 cameras filming the deed?

    What an ass.

So according to Bill the Science Guy, footballs in a game where the temperature is, say 10-20 degrees, the footballs would look like pancakes by half time.

How the hell do we know the Pats are the only team prepping the footballs that way? They're the only team that someone (Ravens, Colts?) decided they had a problem with.

The Patriots get the balls to how Brady likes them. When they are given to the ref, they ask the refs to air them to 12.5 psi. That's what BB said was sop.

The QBs don't give a shit whether the ball is 12.5 psi or not, They care if it is rubbed up for grip and feels good throwing it. We're seeing more and more evidence that a ball inflated to 10.5 and one at 12.5 feel basically the same.

Or he did, and was wrong about how the pressure was reduced. If it really is all about prepping the ball to pass the test and it then loses pressure faster than normal, then 1. there is nothing to catch on tape, and 2. It probably isn't technically a violation of the letter of the rule.

You don't think they check the PSI when they are working to get the footballs to how Brady likes them? You think the ball could be 8PSI and they are still going to brush on them for a good feel knowing they will be pumped up to league standard after? That makes no sense. If you are trying to get the right feel, you would want to work on a football that is inflated to the same amount it would be during the game.

All the evidence I have seen shows that you can easily tell a difference between a ball that is 10.5 and 12.5. The only evidence I heard stating otherwise came from the team that has a good reason to lie about it.

Agreed that one will be an interesting story. What did the NFL suspect beforehand? Did other owners push Goddell to do this? Did they see tampering in earlier games? If not why run the sting in the AFCCG? Maybe he thought the sting would be inconclusive or he could keep the results under wraps?

Either way you Pats fans havent addressed the basic facts. As reported by Peter King:

I (PK) am told reliably that:

    • The 12 footballs used in the first half for New England, and the 12 footballs used by the Colts, all left the officials’ locker room before the game at the prescribed pressure level of between 12.5 pounds per square inch and 13.5 psi.
    • All 24 footballs were checked by pressure gauge at halftime. I am told either 11 or 12 of New England’s footballs (ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported it was 11, and I hear it could have been all 12) had at least two pounds less pressure in them. All 12 Indianapolis footballs were at the prescribed level.
    • All 24 footballs were checked by pressure gauge after the game. All 24 checked at the correct pressure—which is one of the last pieces of the puzzle the league needed to determine with certainty that something fishy happened with the Patriots footballs, because the Colts’ balls stayed correctly inflated for the nearly four hours. There had been reports quoting atmospheric experts that cold weather could deflate footballs. But if the Patriots’ balls were all low, and the Colts’ balls all legit, that quashes that theory.
So on Monday it seemed pretty open and shut that it was human tampering. And now Belichicks "Blinded me with science" routine that didnt address any of the above points is supposed to put this all to bed? Must be some real crap for brains up in NE...

How do the pats prep their game footballs exactly? Has anyone actually told us?

    Blow dryer? Heavy rubbing?

Deflategate has even made its way down under to the Australian Open:

MELBOURNE, Australia, Jan. 24, 2015 -- Miami Dolphins minority stake owner Serena Williams was shocked to hear about Deflategate and the allegations that the New England Patriots intentionally under-inflated their footballs to gain an advantage in Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Indianapolis Colts.

"No way! Allegedly or for real?" she said. When told it probably was for real, she added, "We at the Dolphins, we don't do that."

    http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=12209293

ATP pro John Isner said there is no Deflategate equivalent in tennis.
"No. That's football," he said. "That's the Patriots. You kind of expect that with them."

What they want you to believe is that they prep a ball that is at least 1PSI under league regulation, and they scrub that football so hard and fast (some assume a machine does it), it increases by 1PSI making it at the league minimum 12.5PSI when it is given to the official to check. This prepping process also apparently causes the ball to lose that 1PSI it gained fairly quickly. That combined with 50 degree weather and rain caused the ball to lose another 1 PSI which would explain the ball being 2 PSI under.

Seems unlikely to me, but that is their story. Hopefully the league will clear this up.
