My mom came up to me and asked if the Patriots cheated. I looked at her in shock because she usually doesn't give a damn or knows about football.

No one is saying that's why they won, at least I don't think so, haven't read every post. They won cause they played a high school caliber team and dominated them. However if there is any truth to this there should be heavy punishment and not swept under the rug.

The Pats whipped the 2007 Jets handily and didn't need to film the sideline but they did anyway and got caught cheating.

    Exactly.

This isn't the reason the Colts lost, they played beyond horrendously in this one. However, this is to prevent the Pats from doing this again in the future (if there's any truth to it that is).

What's your point? That if you cheat you should only be punished if you may not have won anyway? But if the cheating didn't help you shouldn't be punished? That's some gay ass logic right there.

People still use the word gay as a criticism?

Every coach knows they may not win.

But more likely this wasn't behavior instigated by this specific game and he cheats all of the time.

...and then sweep it under the rug, so as not to taint the "game".

Aaron Rodgers over inflates the ball and it's up to the refs to change it:

    Let's say this is true.

What Rodgers does is not similar at all to the issue here. Rodgers overinflates the ball and then the refs bring it back down to the proper level.

New England had the balls checked by the refs before the game, as the rules state, and then purposely deflated the balls during the game to gain an advantage. They didn't deflate the balls then have the refs check it and fix it. They blatantly lied and had them at the proper level when checked to then later deflate them.

    OJ murdered someone.

    Aaron Hernandez murdered someone.

Because one of them got away with it doesn't make the other murderer not a murderer.

Oh wait, this is the "everybody else is doing it" defense that Patsie's always default to.

    Check.

Well since Rogers and Green Bay have a pristine record with no hint of cheating, they get the benefit of the doubt. One time.

The Patriots CAN'T get the benefit of the doubt because of their nefarious history.

It is what it is--you guys can never outrun it. Just enjoy your championships and your run this year.

No one else in the country is giving the Patriots any credit.

58% of the country believes that the Patriots are going to win, even though they will not be allowed to deflate the balls in the SB. I'd say they are getting a lot of credit.

Actually they are all over it.

It's the NFL's responsibility to punish the violation to an extent that dissuades the behavior. I don't blame Belichick if he decided a draft pick and cash were worth the risk if that's all the NFL will punish him with. And if a coach is willing to take that punishment to cheat and the NFL is okay with that behavior and distraction and doesn't levy a more severe punishment than that's their choice.

Belichick took a calculated risk and let's see how the NFL responds to prevent it from occurring again. But other than that position there is no rational defense to his actions and you look like a fucking moron trying to do so.

The Patriots are the Ndamukong Suh of NFL franchises.

The first time he stomped or kicked someone he got the benefit of the doubt. Not so much the second time. The third, fourth and fifth?

    Fuck that dirty-ass player.

    Just like the Pats.

    See how it works?
