Defering the Kick Off

If you have a defense, to defer is a no brainer... Nothing like having your offense start the second half after you got an opportunity to make adjustments at the half.

Jets haven't given up a point in the first quarter I believe.

 

I love the idea of deferring until the 2nd half. I hope Rex keeps it up, showing the faith in the defense and giving the offense a great chance to take a lead.

 

I wonder what are record is when we do this in a game?

 

I've been deferring since Madden ever came out and never understood the mentality of wanting the ball 1st over getting the ball after the 1/2

 

The interesting thing is, it seems that evry time the Jets get the ball in the second half with the lead, and a chance to blow the game out, they shit the bed.

 

No first quarter points given up this season.

I think it's straight and to the point, here is the ball, good fuckin luck. Then we get the ball to start the 2nd half.

Different teams have different strategies. I really think it comes down to making a statement early in the game. If the defense is dominant then I can see why coaches would defer until the second half. The pro team covered in the region where I live always takes the ball on offense first because their offense is the strenght of the team.

 

Once Rex came in and started doing this it was one my favorite things about this new team and still is.

Hope he never changes!
