I was about to make a post about the HANS device but you are spot on. Kyle Wilson may be the first NFL player to use it.
Kyle Wilson has been a very durable player for us. He's decent depth if you can forget about his draft position.
I read this as an imperative urging our concrete necked CB to do his job: "Defend! Kyle Wilson" along the lines of "Godspeed! You black emperor!" which hasn't worked for the coaching staff so I'm not sure what luck fans would have. Otherwise, he's a really good slot CB and his ability to see the ball as long as it is in front of him might work best if he was converted to S. But as someone mentioned above, he wouldn't be nearly the best S on the team and so when would he get a chance for much playing time? He's fine where he is, playing on the inside receiver in a league that increasingly uses 3+ man sets.
Kyle Wilson has been secretly using Head and Shoulders during preseason and he now has Polamalu hair.
He's never seen a ball coming at him that he couldn't defend. Granted he's never seen one coming at him, but details...
Ok, I'll take a shot at the defense. Wilson has been one of the better slot CB's in the NFL over the last few years. He's not great but the Jets don't give up much when they put him out there. For his career he's been a pretty average CB in Rex's defenses. We grade all these guys on a really steep curve because Revis was here and nobody is on the same plane as a CB when Revis is playing in Rex's defense. Very few of them have been terrible CB's though, even for a season. Last year with Cro and Dee Toast is about as bad as it has gotten around here. Rex wouldn't keep putting Wilson out on the field if he thought he was a bad slot CB. It's not that hard to find a guy who can cover there if you need him. The Jets haven't gone looking because they already have one of those guys.
If Kyle Wilson some how found a way to get his damn head turned around he could maybe be a good player. One can only hope.
Kyle Wilson is the opposite of Ray Rice's wife. No matter what she still defends and stays close to her man.
