Not getting worked up for this one like I did with Hill. If it happens, it happens. Deebo is a fantastic player that’s plug + play for the Jets offense.
I felt so blessed that I missed what was going on during that hour long window when the Jets had a shot at Hill. When I checked the news, he had just been traded to the Dolphins. I am not sure my heart could have taken that wait and end result. I still feel for all the Jets fans that did experience all of that live. Crazy.
Deebo may be "short" - 6'0" - but he's pretty stout, not really like Moore and Berrios. And he's proven he's effective in this offense. I agree that ideally they should get a tall, fast receiver, or a Tyreek Hill type with blazing speed, either of which can take the top off the defense and open up the under and middle routes, but if JD got either Deebo or Brown, they would provide sure-handed support to Wilson, and Douglas could still draft the speedy WR, someone like Dotson, Watson, or Pierce for example, and could still use the first two picks on premium "D" players.
Deebo definitely plays bigger than his size; he certainly doesn’t run like he’s small. People really don’t watch these guys play when they comment on them.
Ya know Saleh made the call to Deebo and told him "All gas, no brake" Deebo does not care if Niners want him, he has left the building and not stopping.
If SF would want to move Deebo what would JD be willing to give up for him? I doubt JD would match the package that he offered hill of 1227 trade value points. From all reports JD will not go past what he assumes is a fair deal. Hughes has said all along JD will not give up what what he offered for Hill for Deebo, Metcalf or Brown. What is a fair deal for Deebo compared to Hill? Hill is more dynamic and has had four 1000 yard seasons to Deebo's one but Deebo can run the ball better.Something around 700 to a 1000 points might be more likely closer to JD's limit. 3 trades that would be in the 700 to 1000 point value range would be: 1. One of our 2nd's and our 3rd (765 or 795). 2. Both twos with SF giving back 93 (942). 3. The Jets giving up number 10 in return for SF pick 61 (1008).
Before they do that, I hope they talk contract extension with Deebo before they pull a deal with the 49ers if it ever happens. I think it is going to cost more than we think. But if it is just a 10th or 2 number twos, do it.
I don't think JD would do a deal with out a contract extension. The jets were in on Cooper but would not do it without an extension which the Cowboys were unwilling to allow negotiation.
I think JD offers the same package, maybe even better. Deebo is younger than Hill, accounted for total 1800 yards last year, played in the same system. 1400 receiver yards also wasn't from Mahomes, but from below average QB Garoppolo. With all that, I highly doubt SF trades him, but I didn't think Hill would traded either, so I suppose there is a small chance...
