Devin Smith didn't have 5 surgeries prior to the NFL. He had the injury label well before he entered the league. You can't compare the 2 situations. It was a mistake to draft him in the first place, and the pick should've been Warmack.
Wonder if Milliner will be cut, clear waivers, then put on IR (like we did with AA), or if he will just hold his roster spot. How Macc handles this will tell you all you need to know about how the new sheriff feels about Dee.
The pick should've been Warmack, you're right. But more because we desperately needed a guard and Warmack was perfect value at that pick too.
Let's see Sheldon, Pryor, Amaro, IK, Dozier, Evans (who is not going to make the roster), Reilly .....can't think of anymore
Bustola!!!!!! Thanks f...ing Idzik. Waive the bum. I called him being a bust on draft night, and Pryor will follow in his footsteps.
There's nothing to be gained by moving on from him at this point. It's doubtful, but he could come back by game 2 or 3 and be a big contributor this year. How stupid would the Jets look if they waived him, the Pats grabbed him up like they did Tyler Gaffney, and then he went on to be a star and solidify their secondary? If he comes back and gets injured again or doesn't play well the rest of this season, then fine, get rid of him after the season, but I think it's a little silly to move on now, especially since he'll only miss one game.
IMO there's no way he will be cut. The Pats CBs suck balls. They would sign him in a NY minute, and it would be just our luck, he comes back week 2, stays healthy and goes on to be a star and helps them get to and win another SB. There's no reason to cut him at this point since he will only miss one game.
Injured coming out of college. Injured last year in training camp. Came back for like one game, got injured on special teams. Rehabs, and now gets injured again. This guy clearly can't stay healthy. Look to trade him when he comes back healthy midseason. (if he can even come back for that long).
Nah, Cro's not overrated by us, actually I hate the way he usually gets burned, for a TD most of the time, it's just that Revis & Cro is better than just Revis. Skrine being most of the time a slot CB, Dee would've been opposite of Revis, so like I said, Revis & Cro > Revis & Dee.
You can't make moves based on what other teams might or might not do, the mercenary went to the Pats and helped them win a SB, by those measures teams would be signing guys just to block other teams from possibly getting a playmaker. The Pats did not sign Revis just so the jets could not sign him, I think it's silly to run the organization in that matter. The only time DM showed progress is when Rex gave him safety help over the top. For a high draft pick, he has proven to be a limited CB in his short time in the NFL, as well as injury prone. I think he would do well with NE, not because Dee is an all star, it's because BB never leaves his limited CB's covering one on one, he always provides safety help so as to not give up the big play. That is just a smart football philosophy.
Milliner's value hasn't been very high since the end of his rookie season. Trading this past season would have gotten us nickels on the dollar. Let's wait it out and hope he shows a few more healthy flashes before we trade him.
Did I say that was the only reason to not release him? No. It was just one of the reasons. The main reason was that he's only going to miss one game and has too much talent to give up on at this point. He's still on a cheap contract, and with having already lost AA for the season, there's absolutely no sensible reason for cutting bait with Milliner at this point imo. If we were halfway or 2/3 through the season and he had shown zero potential, that would be one thing, but that isn't the case. IMO you're just being too impatient. I get it. Tanny and Idzik made a lot of bad draft picks, and it's frustrating, but you can't let your emotions and frustration control your moves as a GM. I also disagree that you can't or shouldn't consider what other teams might do. That's the very reason teams don't trade with other teams within their division. They don't want to help those other teams. When they trade a player, they almost always trade him out of the division, if not the conference, so that he can't come back and bite them in the butt.
