The families of the dead and many of the injured were split fairly evenly on the death penalty question. Aside from the general repugnance of the death penalty to some there is now the knowledge that they must put up with another decade or so of legal wranglings in the appeals process rather than locking the little puke away and trying to get on with their lives.

I can think of a number of good reasons not to give him death penalty, ignoring entirely the part about how I'm morally opposed to it on general principles. Here is the best argument against it, in my opinion. You give him the death penalty, and for at least the next seven or eight years this gutless puke will get to look forward to meeting with and hearing from his lawyers, preparing his challenges, having a number of significant events just over the horizon for him to look forward to in anticipation. After which time he is mercifully put out of his bored out of his skull misery, and he achieves his life goal of matyrdom. He doesn't deserve any of those tiny slivers of human satisfaction. You give him life without parole and he goes into some supermax tomorrow and never sees the light of day again. For the next seventy goddamned years. He sits alone in a fucking room forgotten, forever. I think that's far more cold blooded thing to do to someone.

Kind of how I feel, he stole the life of that 7 year old kid, he won't last long in general population. Some pathetic little scrawny punk like him. He'll get his death sentence much quicker that way. At least with the death penalty, his appeals are ,limited till he gets the needle, not clogging up the system with three hots and a cot and appeals on where he is kept till the day he dies.

Yeah, getting stuck reading the Koran in a toilet stall for the rest of our lives is worse than the death penalty for most of us, but it isn't for Tsarnaev. Plus, you could read from now until you die and still not cover all the great novels that are out there. Tsarnaev is educated and would have access to all of that. He can still do all of this of course, but at least now he's on the clock.
