IIRC (and I'm relying on a creaky memory) there was a lot of after the fact brouhaha about how the participants in the event were warned about the crazy winds at Shea and how they could effect the model planes, but for some reason they went ahead with the show anyway, and the poor slob ends up getting killed. In the list of ways that you expect to check out, I would imagine "killed by flying lawn mower" is fairly far down the list.
