Being named the starter on a team totally devoid of talent & taking us to the promised land is like comparing day & nite IMHO.

Why the issue with some people believing the Jets will do good this year? I don't see it happening either, but to attack someone and call them names because they are optimistic is nothing short of childish.

Either way glad to see you grasped the meaning of my post. What you posted is somewhat correct but does not say much concerning the present talent level of the NYJs

I must say I was just waiting for someone to deliver the 'Grumpy Old Man' response, and this is a pretty good one!

I'm a fan of Chad and love the Jets, but the original post was so sugary it made my teeth hurt.

Nothing wrong with optimism - it's all Jets fans have sometimes - but there's no need to start talking about mysterious forces and asking Cinderella out on a date.

There's no issue with optimism, or people believing the Jets will do well. The issue is with the content in the original post, did you read it? Ask yourself what the reaction would be if champ posted a letter he wrote to Woody about his failings as an owner. If anything, this post is getting a pass from most people because it's optimistic.

It is not as you claim the GOM it a NYJ fan totally FBL for the last 37 years. Maybe if you go that long you to would then be in a better position to understand the makeup of the "old timers" especially one that has season tix since 65.

Lets just clear one thing up. The 30 - 40 year old Jets fans have it worse than the so called "old timers"..

Some clarification for you - I was praising the put-down of the original post, which I found syrupy.

I don't know how being born a few years earlier would make my opinion on that post more or less valid. As a 38-year-old father of two I sometimes feel like an old-timer myself anyway...

Sort of. I became a fan watching a really superb elite football team. It hasn't been easy to watch over the last 30+ years. The only time I felt like I was really watching a superb team again was the playoff game against the Bengals in the 82 playoffs, the 98 playoff game against JAX and there was a brief glimmer in 02 before a not very elite Oakland team beat the crap out of us.

The reality in 40 years watching the Jets I probably have only seen 3 seasons more of good football than those who started watching them 30 years ago.

Lets see I started in 65 so thru 67 there was nothing to write home about. 68 was the year those of us around then were really/truly watching a elite team play even though until SB3 we did not probably know how elite we really were. 69 was another good season but wound up poorly losing in that trumped up PO game against KC. From 70 onwards except for a year here & there we have STUNK. Pure garbage. Now you explain to me how you have had more suffering then me or any NYJ fan from the 60s? I started at age 25 now I am 66 so I have seen them for 41 years which is most likely longer then you have been alive. Seeing us win SB3? Come on that was one year no more no less. If I did not have a tape of SB3 to remind me of what occurred that day I would probably not be able to remember all the INTs & JWN pin point passing & how our D dominated the Colts in the 2nd half. Please inform me & the group how you can beat 37 years of nothingness which is what I, Winny & several others have suffered thru

so winning only 1 superbowl isn't good enough for you either? haha, you're pathethic.

they're saying, at least you have a Superbowl victory memory, which none of them (or me) have. you've seen the Jets hoist the trophy, so you actually really haven't suffered as much; because witnessing your team as SB champs cancels out your extra years of "suffering," just because you've been around longer...clearly much longer based on your constant complaining.

    cheers

champ its true.....the most miserable possible jet fan would be the one who started follwing the jets the year after the superbowl victory
