Assuming he is a Viking, he doesn't need to know much. Run deep and Favre throws it up for him.

I wonder if the Vikes doing this is a sign that Rice will be out longer than mid-season?

It will be interesting to see how the Pats offense does without him. They really don't have much at all besides Brady and Welker. No run game, no Mankins on the O-Line, no one really ready to take over at WR in Moss' place. Welker will probably see double & triple teams now, and in that case Brady's not going to have anyone reliable to throw to. Moss may not have been producing for them, but at the very least he was a good distraction that took attention off Welker and their other guys.

You're saying they get a second and a defensive player?

    I bet it's less.

Boldin and a 5th for a 3rd and a 4th, and Boldin was much more desirable at the time than Moss is now.

I'd guess a third and a conditional pick.

No. I think a 2nd gets it done. If they get a decent body out of Minny, then a 4th. From everything I've read, it seems like it could just be a draft pick. So I'll say a 2nd. If it were a rentala 2nd would be too high ,but it appears the trade only happens if minny gets Moss to sign an extension.

Boldin also signed a new deal. He was 29 and a tough player, in addition to being one of the NFL's elite receivers.

Moss is 33 and a malcontent.

I'd be surprised if they got a second.

The Vikes are clearly a desperate team - they see this as their last chance to get to the SB for several years as its bound to be (surely) Favres last season so I wouldnt be surprised to see them do something retarded like give up a second.

Because I hate the Patriots, I want this deal to happen but I would really prefer for the Jets to not have to deal with Favre to Randy on Monday.

Schefter is reporting the Vikings will send over a 3rd round pick for Moss. When the PAts got him from Oakland they only sent over a 4th round pick. In retrospect, its good wheeling and dealing by the Pats. I can only assume, Bill told the front office that he has a deep threat that he can use to replace Moss. Presumbly, an undrafted free agent that will work his balls off in order to make the roster and get a big contract. Sounds like a typical Pats move. Get something for Moss before he can get out.

Fuck him, Cromartie already shut his ass down once, the Vikes still have nobody to throw to after him. You know Favre will force the ball to him all night so the oppurtunity to make plays on defense will be there.

As for the Pats getting a 3rd Belli hasn't exactly torn through the draft recently and the higher the draft picks the more money against the cap. It appears that Tate and Hernandez will be solid but nothing else in teh last few years stands out.

So essentially this thing is a done deal? good stuff for us. Yeah we might have issues this week but its huge for us down the line when the Pats start losing games because their offense falls apart.

    Also this gives new england 2 picks in each of the first 4 rounds (2 1's, 2 2's 2 3's 2 4's).

Anybody else slightly worried that the Pats are going to do whatever they can to get hands on A.J. Green in the draft? That would certainly suck for us, if thats the case, I would prefer they just keep Moss....

Howdaya figger? I believe I read that the Patriots would likely get a 3rd round compensatory pick if Moss leaves as a free agent. Seems to me, this is trading a bucket of air for a handful of sunshine.

the pats will have to change their WHOLE offense without moss ... moss is their offense, whether he catches passes or not

My God...could Peter King blow this move any more. "The Pats are genius...they have this draft by the balls..."

The the Ross Tucker goes "They've had a lot of picks in the last two drafts and what have those guys done?"

PS - both NFL network and ESPN reporter this is a done deal.

Tom Brady can win w/ the average ganggreen poster as his WRs BUT it will be funny to see Welker thrust into a #1 role. Now he has Moss to take most of the pressure and coverage off him, I am very much looking forward to how Welker(still not 100%) can handle this.

It's a worry to see a rival w/ that many picks but the pats have drafted so poorly the last 6-7 years that I feel a little better about it. They have hit here and there bit they have had consistently mediocre drafts and keep trading away and stockpiling picks while their best player(and the reason for the dynasty) moves closer and closer to retirement years.
