Done just in time for this week's game plan. Can't help but wonder if Bellishit wouldn't have held out for a 2nd if Minnestota was playing anybody else but the Jets this week.
This really isn't a smart move by the Pats... its an arrogant one. That whole organization operates through smug, haughty arrogance. The smart move would be to work things out in-house with Moss for the season. Come to some kind of truce or put a gag-order on the contract dispute so they can take advantage of him for the season. It's not only in Moss' best interest to have a good season, but the Pats. Changing WR mid season is ridiculous. I look forward to it back firing on them. And Moss is a tool. :breakdance:
I don't know what the Pats are thinking. On the plus side, now they've got extra picks to draft difference makers like Ron Brace, Shawn Crable, and Sebastian Vollmer. That Belichick is a draftnik to be reckoned with! -X-
Screw me once shame on you, screw me twice shame on me! If I wrote for the Minnisota paper that would be my headline today! I know they are desparate this year because they have a short window to win it all but Moss was sent out of town because he was a horrible disruptive force on the team. I see way more harm then good coming from this move for Minnie.
What a dumb move by both team if that is the case... I'm surprised that NE would give up their best playmaker while sitting at 3-1 on the season. I'm surprised the Viqueens would give up a 3rd rounder w/o signing him to a deal. The Jets already beat a Moss led team once no reason why they can't beat him again (especially afetr he'll only have two days of practice with the team) The funny thing is the the Viqueens have essentially sold their souls in an attempt to win a SB, the moves they have made are going to set the franchise back years if they don't win it this year.
I don't understand NE's thinking on trading him during the season. I mean,I understand getting something for a player who will leave without compensation but you can't say they are a better team then they were against the Dull-Phins on monday. I really think this takes NE out of contention for the AFCE.
Yeah, he can become a cancer, but he'll be welcomed with open arms for a season or maybe two. And that is all they really need him for with Favre being ya know... on the verge of retirement, or maybe not. Seriously though, this is a score for them. They can shore up a big need and if they can get Rice healthy and on the field toward the end of the season they can have some serious weapons available. And Moss will be out to prove himself again, which usually works out for a few games in the teams favor.
I think Minn. overpaid if Moss ends up being a rental, but he's big pickup for them now, esp. if they can sign him to a reasonable extension. I don't think anyone can say what this will mean for the Pats until later. They lose a playmaker, but they get a problem off their hands and get yet another draft pick. I don't think this was a whim decision, it was a calculated risk. I cringe to think what could happen with all of these stockpiled draft picks if they push them off until (if) there's a rookie wage scale. They could get a shit-ton of good players for much less $$.
I still don't understand why Minnesota wants Moss back? They know first hand he QUITS on you when he doesn't get the ball or doesn't like what's going on. So if Favre retires and they have a rookie QB or Tavaris in there who can't get him the ball, he will QUIT on them. They will not extend him, I think or if they do, they are retarded. Also a 3rd is too high a price to pay for a rental?
In all seriousness, the Pats should pay heed to these numbers. 2003- Nate Burleson w/ Randy Moss- 29 catches, 455 Yards 2004-Nate Burleson w/ Randy Moss- 68 catches, 1006 yards Nate Burleson best season since- 2009- 63 catches, 812 yards(w/Calvin Johnson) It's going to be interesting watching the Pats offense without Randy Moss. When they got away with this kind of thing before, it was because they had an upper echelon defense. Wes Welker is going to have his work cut out for him. -X-
I don't think it's such a dumb move really. He obviously doesn't figure into the Pats long-term plans, and based on how they're using their tight ends now he doesn't really fit their short-term ones either. As for the Vikes they're in full-blown "win now or die" desperation mode. Giving up a third (in a year that may have no season) isn't exactly a king's ransom for a play-maker like Moss. Thank God this happened today while we're installing the game-plan. Let's hope Revis is really at full-strength this time because they're gonna test him early and often if he's out there. If he's 100% and Farve tries to unwrap his new toy Monday night we could be in pick heaven.
Is any franchise more guilty of gross mismanagement than the Vikings? The Vikings aren't even the best team in their division. This is a silly, desperate move by an organization that should be building intelligently around Adrian Peterson. -X-
