he was a first year starter lord priest of the church of the anti tebowites...., part of your problem is that you judge him as if he were a 9 year veteran. And you always only tell half the story, you can take any stats ever from any qb in a loss . and say they were in garbage time, for Tebow you will hand pick your crap. how did he do against the steelers in garbage time? oh thats right there was none but then you will say something about lebeau's defense or injuries which is pure crap. the defense was the way it was because THEY HAD to cover the run and the injuries were on both sides . or do Dawkins, Kuper, Morena, Decker, Miller with a bum thumb suddenly don't count? My point is you will always find a way to minimize anything tebow does.
And you will always try and find a way to maximize everything he does. I don't see the "blind" haters any different than the "blind" followers. Tebow does some stuff extremely well and some stuff not as well. It will all come out in th wash ...sooner I think rather than later.
I beg to differer, many sacks are on the QB. The line can only hold for so long. QB's with quick decision making skills and a quick release dont get sacked and therefore dont fumble the ball much. You can argue all you want man but the truth is in way fewer touches Tebow puts the ball on the ground. If its not partially his fault then why did the Broncos sacks go way up after tebow took over...with the same O-Line?
never said that Tebow's sack totals weren't partially his fault. Why did they go up ? A number of reasons. First, like you said, the decision making (more on that later though). Second, Denver's right tackle, Orlando Franklin was worse than Wayne Hunter. Orton could see him getting beat and could get rid of the ball. Tebow is a lefty, so that was his blindside. Third, Tebow is a scrambling QB and a playmaker. QBs of that type damned near always have a higher Sack %. For example, while Brady's sack % is 5.0, Big Ben's is 7.2. Fourth, Tebow was a young QB who hadn't even started 16 games. Yeah, that comes into play as well. Go look at the sack/% totals each year and see how many young QBs are at the bad end of the list BTW< you said "QB's with quick decision making skills and a quick release dont get sacked" Hmmm, Matt Stafford and Aaron Rodgers were tied for #6 in total sacks. And while Tebow led the league in sack %, Aaron Rodgers was in the top 15
Dude - are you five? Denver was 4-14 with that O-Line when Tebow wasn't starting and you are absolutely correct - Orton had a very fast release. Do you think thing fell apart when Tebow stepped on the field? Do you watch football at all? I know some of you guys hate Tebow but lord.
The way some of you talk you would have thought Tebow was undefeated and won the Super Bowl instead of getting blown out in the Playoffs. There are Eleven players on your team on the field at the same time you are this is not an individual sport. Everybody praises Tebow's record and comebacks but fail to point out the three game losing streak. A bad bounce here or there a missed field goal this streak never happens. You cannot judge Tebow on a half of season you have to put in the tape in Judge him to see if you can consistently win with him. The hype over running Qb's is always the same look it them scramble look at them make plays with their feet the QB position is changing. In reality pocket passers win playoff games and Superbowls. Why, because football is a team game that requires precision and consistency at every position. Ad-libbing might win you a few games and even a nice streak but in the end it is always the same to win consistently in the NFL you have to be able to throw from the pocket. I love reading these boards because the arguments for and against players is always the same. The o-line, arm strength, not given a chance we don't know we have never seen them play. The arguments work both ways. This is the NFL and their is no guarantee you will be a given a chance to develop or get the opportunity. How many high draft pick QBs failed not because of ability but because they were drafted by the wrong team. We may have ever heard of Brady or Young if not for injury and a second chance. In the past with less complicated defenses fronts most QBs sat on the bench for three years before they even get a chance to play. As a Jet fan we want to Judge a QB's worthiness after three years in the league. Here is the fact Sanchez and Tebow need to improve. Tebow has shown zero ability at this point in his career to throw from the pocket. Sanchez has shown he can at times but struggles recognizing coverages. If Tebow was not Tebow I would say he would never get another chance to be a starting QB in the NFL but we all know that is not the case Tebow will get another chance. What he does with that chance is all about Tebow if he goes out and plays like he did last season and loses Tebow will be out of the league. If he goes out and shows he can play from the pocket and loses he will play in the league all long time.
This all sounds like a carefully built argument in an attempt to evaluate whether Tebow is an elite franchise quarterback, whether he's somebody you would want to build a team around. When in fact, that's not really the discussion -- the discussion is whether he's a pile of crap or not. That is, whether he even belongs in the league. Thinking he's a good quarterback that would hold up fine if he continues to develop is apparently crazy. See bolded -- why is it necessary to go so far? What is it about Tebow that drives people nuts and makes them go overboard with the criticism? "Zero ability?" He wouldn't be getting a chance to play if he weren't Tebow? He's a special athlete with winning tendencies, great size, and a great arm. He'd get his chance if his name was Greg McElroy.
Your tears taste delicious. You accused me of manipulating his numbers. I showed you that I did not manipulate a single stat. He got the bulk of his numbers in garbage time. He completed 6 passes in the first 3 quarters. He fumbled twice. He, in general, shit the bed. I will minimize what Tebow did, because he didn't really do anything special. Denver's defense, despite having to endure the league's most proficient 3-and-out quarterback, kept us in almost every single game. Matt Prater, routinely bombing 50+ yard game winners, single-handedly, won us multiple games by hitting prayer bombs in extremely clutch moments. Tebow, was Tebow, which in the vast majority of cases, was very bad. But, but, but... That is all I keep hearing from you. You make some outlandish claim like I'm manipulating his numbers, I call you (and TTTTebowAndTheJets) out on it, break down the numbers, and all I hear is but, but, but, he won a playoff game. No, the team won a playoff game, against a complete gimp of a quarterback, a ravaged defense, and Dick LeBeau's defensive scheme revolving around both smoking bath salts, and completely forgetting how to run a defense. That is fact, not some excuse to minimize what Tebow did. Get over yourself.
I think I disposed of the notion that he got good numbers in "garbage time" against the Pats (game 1). They didn't throw the ball a lot in that game, but the trend was not towards good numbers in the fourth quarter. I was referring to passing the ball. If you were focusing on his rushing performance, so be it. But he threw the ball well in the Pats game, in the first quarter, moving the sticks, picking up 3rd downs. That's not the game to bring in "garbage time" to the equation. He was 5-12 in the 4th quarter (in a blowout).
Because it is the truth I said he shown Zero ability to throw from the pocket not that he has zero ability (big difference). He may never get another chance as a starting QB I think he will though. If Bledsoe was never injured Brady would have never gotten a chance just fact being "Tebow" helps him. If Tebow chooses not to play QB and be a utility player he can play in the NFL for a while. If Tebow does not progress significantly as a pocket passer in the next season or two he will be out of the league as a a QB. Not dramatic not overblown just pretty factual.
Why the hell is a Cowboy fan and a Bronco fan arguing on a Jets forum? Please both of you leave unless you want to discuss how the Jets and Tebow are better than the Broncos and the Cowboys. Tebow will help the Jets this season and help them make the playoffs for third time in four years. The Cowboys will miss the playoffs again and the Broncos will be scrambling as Manning career ends by week 6.( I just hope he does get seriously injured)
Did you mean hope he does "not" get seriously injured? I think he's going to get plowed by the pass rush.
Good catch I hope he does not get seriously injured. He is talking a huge risk for his future health.
Zero ability to throw from the pocket ? Just about every pass he completed against Pitt was "from the pocket". Did you miss the game or something??
Dude has 16 career starts. Let's hold off on calling his career either way. He's flashed some really good, he's flashed some really bad. For all we know, he's gotten a lot better this offseason.
If you're talking about Manning, from what I've read, he's not taking any greater risk than any other player, as far as injury risk once the nerves have healed. The only question is do they regenerate to give him close to full functionality, not is he at increased risk for injury.
Im not talking wins / losses. I am talking sacks. keep up will you? Tebow's sack totals ARE HIGHER than Orton's sack totals. Why? because Orton has a quicker release and doesn't try and scramble his way out of things (decision making) I would take Tebow all day every day as my starting over Orton. Thats not my point here.
And as I pointed out, Matt Stafford and Aaron Rodgers both rank high in total sacks as well as sack %. So, it's more complicated than that
For every sack he takes due to scrambing there is at least 3 first downs acquired by them. You can't compare a scrambing qb to a pocket passer.
