Yeah i agree he hasnt even played a down we will have to wait till mid- season to see how good he is.
But based on playing time and ability he SHOULD be head and shoulders above them at least on playing time. I'm not saying he going to win it but he stands a really good chance.
There is no need to wait, he has ZERO chance of winning OROY, an offensive lineman has never won one, if we say Pro Bowl it would be at least a somewhat realistic goal, the OROY however is never going to happen so people shouldn't get their hopes up on that
When was the last time a lineman won RoY? Besides, even if Reggie Bush has a marginally successful year, he's gonna get it.
The closest player to a lineman that has won offensive rookie of the year is Earl McCullouch whom was classified as an "offensive end." Never has an offensive lineman won it. What a silly thread.
Like Buc said, Pro Bowl is more likely than ROY if he has a great season. That's like an o-lineman winning MVP or offensive player of the year. It's just not going to happen.
The Offensive Rookie of the Year award has been given since 1967. During that time it has been won by a running back 30 times, a receiver 7 times, and a quarterback twice. That's it. So, no, Ferguson will not win offensive ROY, and yes, Reggie Bush has a FAR better chance of winning it, even if you think he stinks.
The list I've seen calls him an "outside end," what used to be called a split end (as opposed to the tight end, who was next to the lineman, and the flanker back, who lined up off the line). He was what we would call a wide receiver, catching 124 passes in his career for 19 TDs and an 18.7 YPC average. You're certainly right about the thread, however.
d'brick will give up sacks from the inside angle, maybe against a DE who weighs around 290 putting a move on him, maybe from a great speed rusher who persistitently attacks his weakness im not saying he will be horrible but i expect him to take his lumps, most of the DE's in the senior bowl were "tweeners" by NFL standards. i expect him to be elite, just not right off the bat
Rookie of the year??? Rookie of the year will not go to an O lineman... take it to the bank. It's going to be given to a skill position player on the3 offensive side of the ball, or a defensive rookie, Count on it. Ellis
The last offensive lineman to win the OROY was Earl McCullough, Offensive End, Detroit Lions in 1968... So to say D'Brick will be D'ROY is a stretch http://cbs.sportsline.com/nfl/history/awards/aporoy
I really don't get it. MVP=Most valuable player which is what ROY is for the season. If Brick comes in and does an amazing job and contributes INVALUABLY to the team why not? Sorry, just because some guy who most of us can't remember won it as an 'outside end' years ago does not mean that it can't happen again. I for one will go into the season with an open mind and hope that he does win it and know that he has a great chance to do so. Yeah sticky would be good on this
yeah, it would be great, but just too highly unlikely. there will be guys who make the highlight reel and score points, like Bush and Vernon Davis; those guys will garner many more votes based on "glamour" recognition alone, despite how well 'Brick plays. cheers
No offensive lineman has ever won the rookie of the year award, and the voters aren't going to make a Jet the first.
ROY recognitions are nice but we should just hope that brick and mangold help seal up the o-line and provide chad and curtis with protection
