Geno's hand injury, Geno getting a chance to play with the first string, Sanchez not separated himself in TC…etc. are all irrelevant. I'm not disputing any of those items just the decision of putting one of your top 2 QBs in the 4th quarter of the preseason game. It would have been a stupid decision if it was the reverse too, Sanchez starting and Geno inserted late. I remember having to leave for a party at the exact moment Sanchez was put in the game and screaming to wife "WTF is Rex doing putting him in the game; he's asking for him to get hurt". Hours later I come back from the party to find out it happened just as I foreshadowed.

To have a chance you need to have reps and reps with the 1st team, not just the 3rd stringers. You also need to have 1 on 1 time with the QB coach and OC. Simms never got 1st team reps and very little time with coaches. Its not fair to say Simms got a shot, since they were so busy trying to help a bust like Smith and coach up a washed up player like Vick. I believe if as much effort had been spent on Simms as spent on Idzik's boy Smith, Simms would have won us more games. You are wrong if you truly think they ever gave Simms a chance or tried to develop him.
I can confirm this one...in training camp the lowest QB on the totem pole almost never gets any time with anybody other than in the meeting rooms. When it comes to the field...definitely nothing. Unless you unleash some freakish 90 yard bomb or something stupid like that to get noticed....you...get...NOTHING. Hell, doesn't take a player to tell anyone that. Anyone who has ever gone to training camp knows this.
Of course the media takes out the "he killed us" part and that makes all of the headlines. And as I remember Lee also spoke about being frustrated with Geno's inconsistent play during the season before all of this. But Lee is basically blaming Geno for his and Rex's incompetency by saying the defense played well enough to win. If so what about all of the Rex-inspired griping about the cornerbacks.
Most of Geno's issues were on Geno that much is for certain. But a small percentage is on the coaching staff. Lee is in a round a bout way indicting himself.

A lot of Muck supporters can't understand that just because the team sucked, which it did, doesn't mean Muck was worthwhile at all, which he wasn't. If Muck did anything to distinguish himself from a low drafted Geno Smith with no experience the issue never would have come up. He didn't, and his injury was no loss to the Jets. Any doubts you had should have been eliminated this year with Sanchez's 15 turnovers in just a few starts for the Eagles.

Hmmm, a defense that had among the fewest turnovers in the league and that routinely gave up 3rd and long first downs? A defense that when all it needed to do was get off the field all too often allowed 90+ yard drives? The defense underperformed and the defensive calls were, at times, atrocious.
But they took snaps under center - that's the thing. The experience and practice is established. Mariota, not once has taken a snap under center. I see you guys are trying to make a joke out of it in other threads - do what you wish, but if you don't think that's an issue well shit, you don't know football.

YUP...I think it was a lame excuse at that, justifying their asses in Buffalo. I hope our whole team never forgets that...no matter who the QB is next year I have no clue what's gonna happen, and maybe Rex, on his third contract as a HC, will have learned some lessons. But I don't miss that crew, I certainly don't miss Tanny, and still can't believe how bad Idzik did for them. Thankfully Woody pulled the plug on 'em all.
