I could be out of my gord (I am just talking this instance, my life well that is another story) here but I think Harris has been at less than 100% since the preseason. Personally, I think he has been playing injured the entire time. IMO, the incident you cite probably exacerbated it enough, where he had to get something done one way or another. Again, it is 100% conjecture on my part, I will not deny that. That being said, I can not see surgery on a torn muscle taking 2-3 weeks to heal that is unprecedented imo.
They said Clowney had a 'collarbone injury' that would keep him out until halfway through the season, although an actual broken collarbone would have taken far longer to come back from. Their prediction was pretty close to the mark, so I doubt it was an actual broken collarbone - unless it was a hairline. Minor surgery doesn't take that long to come back from. Our roster spots are far too valuable to waste pretending that a player with a sports hernia is going to come back. John Abraham had one in week 6 of 2000 and he was out for the season. I highly doubt Harris has one.
Scaife really isn't that scary - he lacks speed. He's good at finding openings and making tough catches, but I think he'll have a quiet game versus the Jets.
Actually the link says it is possible to come back from one in 5 weeks through new surgical advances. Now that I think about it who gives a rats ass what is was as long as he can comeback in the next few weeks..... relatively healthy.
On Kay today, Coach was saying he gave everyone 5 days off to get their bodies healthy. Hopefully Harris is one of those guys. They will, of course, milk the injury report until gameday.
