How has Jim Leonhard been playing? I totally forgot to see his game play. Is he as good as he is considered?
I think a lot of what he does will go unnoticed, but he'll be putting people in the right position to make plays, especially Rhodes.
Westerman was beng used off the edge as a pass rusher on a passing down. Gholston was not. Anyway, I dont think Harris ever lost his mojo, he was just hidden by ineptness of Sutton's and Mangini's defensive scheme...
With Harris is was less a loss of mojo and more an injured groin. It is good to see he's fully recovered. The Ghost, I was a supporter till these last two preseason games. He is not doing any thing remotely like he should be. He shows no pass rush, he's not reading the running plays well, and the one times he was in the right place at the right time late in the Ravens game he wiffed on the tackle. The guy just looks lost to me. I hope to god he turns it around, but I'm quickly losing hope.
I dont have the time to regurgitate the same thing to every poster.... http://forums.theganggreen.com/showpost.php?p=1332693&postcount=126
Funny, thats why he was drafted so high. He has shown very little of that skill. All the other guys who are going to start week one are making plays. Harris, Scott and even Cactus Thomas have looked better than Gholston. Again, he's not getting to the QB. Close is nice, but its not going to matter if he's not disrupting the play. Pressure is one thing, but he has yet to lay a hand on a QB and looks lost in the running game. I watch him looking for him to do well, and I don't see it at all. I hope he turns it around though.
you clearly found one tidbit and chose to focus on that. Clearly not a biased opinion. Did you bother reading the rest of it, or did that one sentence suit you enough to feed your blind assumption that Gholston is a "bust?"
Bust...way to put words in my mouth. At least I quoted you. Right now I think he looks lost. I'm not throwing in the towel completly, but I'm quickly losing hope. Yes I read all of it, but I'm disagreeing with your assumption that he was doing well. He has not shown much ability to beat second string guys, let alone starters. I did not take time to break down every play, but watched for him duing the defensive snaps. My current opinion is that he did nothing special out there. Certinly not anything worthy of a high first round draft pick. I hope he steps up and changes my opinion of him. Right now it looks bleak.
its hard to evaluate ghost apples to apples due to his high draft status, but if possible, pretend for a moment he's just another 'walk on' trying to make the team. he wouldn't even be 3rd string, practice squad, or ball boy. i have a new nick name for ghost: DCP (dead cap space). and a lot of it.
