Exactly. Fitz didn't enter this offseason hoping for a 1yr deal worth 12M, that's for sure. I don't think either party 'caved' or 'won'.. Had no agreement been reached, i feel both parties would have lost imo..
Well he certainly didn't seem to cave with Wilkerson. He wanted more money than Cox and 6 years and got significantly less than Cox and only 5 years not to mention he's pretty much cuttable after year 3.
Fitz said over a month ago that he'd be fine with exactly what he ended up getting. Then the team proceeded to leak to the press a multitude of different details about their offers to him and what happened in the end? They gave him what he said he'd settle for. It wasn't the win that the team was looking for, or they would have given it to him right around the time that he said it was what he'd settle for. And they did it right about the time camp opened. And then they leaked that they set a deadline for him to make it look like it was on their terms. Stop tying your nuts to the Green and White fence post. The Jets lost their gamble. It shouldn't offend you when someone sees it that way. The fact that you are so adamant about the win-win, that tells so much more than my insistence that they lost. You're not seeing clearly.
You're the one who had a beef with what I said. I don't need to get over anything. And you know I'm right about your nuts tied to that post. Maybe that's what hurts.
I'm guessing you have a history of projecting your issues onto others. Not as obvious as the homerism, but close. Either way, have fun pretending the FO wins every battle, it obviously means you win at life.
Sorry. Duh. Totally my fault. I'm such an infrequent poster and the combination of my just not yet knowing the people here well enough together with trying to hastily filter through countless ill-formed judgments/opinions set forth by a significant number herein sometimes make it difficult for me to distinguish between those dispensing clever tongue in cheek sarcasm and those simply not up to the task of distinguishing their elbows from their respective fecal ports.
I enjoy your turn of phrase, please post more. I bet you even know the correct phrase is 'I couldn't care less' rather than 'I could care less'. Back on topic, I'm excited to see Lee, a nice juxtaposition to our big guys on the d-line.
I don't want to convince you, just showing you another perspective on how all of this went down. Nothing wrong with disagreeing, normally when you are hell-bent on something, no one can tell you anything otherwise anyway. The reason why I don't believe he caved is because he didn't hamper the cap or the roster. Mac, no doubt wanted these 2 players in camp as soon as possible. When I think of caving in terms of contracts in the NFL, I think of giving a player an absurd amount of guarantees, kind of like the Von Miller situation. They had to really up their guaranteed money to keep him. Fitz has his little security for this season, and Lee gets 600,000 in guarantees, which to Mac is really nothing, but to Lee sometimes 1 contract is all you get, injuries happen. Mac wants to start by lowballing ... given the circumstances of this off-season, Mac came out smelling like roses unlike your morning turd. Maybe a little homerism sure, but he handled this far better then Tanny or Idzik would. Especially Tanny, he would've gave Mo 100M and the contract would've stopped us from getting better players this off-season.
a little insight into the role mac and bowles may have for d lee ... https://theringer.com/nfl-linebacke...e-bucannon-mark-barron-6bd005ab96b#.wch8puvew
