His change of direction speed is woeful and offenses are now targeting that. His straight line speed is awesome, but count how many times WRs are on go routes against him
Thats about the only route he can cover consistently Is the go route. Curls/come backs/slant routes he struggles with tremendously. Don't even get me started on how susceptible he is to double moves. If he didn't have that elite speed he would be an absolute scrub.
I'm an Irish diehard fan and have seen plenty of Walls games...he was inconsistent in college and I didn't think he'd have this much success in the NFL(Not surprised he went undrafted) so he's really stepped his game up big time. There were times at ND he would be targeted at and would allow 1st down after 1st down and there were times he'd make a really nice play on the ball. Not much of an INT ballhawk but always put himself in good position to be in the play if the ball is thrown at him. Pleasant surprise. He's really stepped his game up.
Come to think of it he might have made the Jet front office feel a lot better in trading Revis. RR must have seen something in the kid and its starting to pay off.
above & beyond pleasantly surprised with Walls this year. i'd like more of him & less of Wilson next week!
Watching video of Sundays game now. They had Walls cover Stevie Johnson. Stevie pretty much had little breathing room.
Yeah Cromartie was selected to Pro Bowl last year, solely on his ability to cove go routes and nothing else. COME ON MAN!!!
Now with Dee likely out a week or two, I look forward even more to seeing what Walls can do. I'd love for him to start over you know who. The Titans, tho lacking a big name WR, have pretty underrated, and good depth. So it should be fun to dissect.
not so funny when you have to sign el taco's paycheck and he gets outplayed by both Simms and McElroy. first round pick and about $30 million down the drain. :shit:
love to see our third undrafted free agent start to get some time too. Ryan Spadola. This is part of the beauty of the NFL. There was a great article written the week prior to the season. It basically harped upon the fact that to make predictions prior to playing atleast 4 games in NFL is crazy. To annoint a team as a 12 win team or a 2 win team, prior to seeing them play is crazy. The jets were used as example. Saying yes on paper 3 win team, it does not factor in that the offensive line might improve (Howard gets better each week), Geno Smith will not be upgrade over Sanchez( I feel he is). Rookies wont contribute- (Millner, Richardson, Bohanan, Winters etc...), unexpected contributions (Snacks, Walls, Spadola) etc... We are getting better in areas and are finding talent in places we did not believe it existed. Its about damn time we have our own young Bart Scott, Victor Cruz, James Harrison- all very late picks or undrafted guys. I see promise here and Walls can be a part of this.
The Walls of Darrin needs to start against TN if Milliner is out. Wilson will be much better in the slot.
They'll be plenty of hacks with egg on their mucky little faces come the end of the season. 2 wins already and most have us getting 1 more :jets:
