I hope Milliner still gets plenty of snaps. That's the only way he gets better. Last week he didn't play great, but he had good coverage on most plays, Patriots offense is just a lot more complicated. Also doesnt help that the Jets play with no deep safety's to help the corners. Rookie corners have a tough transition to the NFL, this defense makes it even harder by leaving them in an island on their own. I'm hoping for the Jets to split more snaps between Milliner and Walls. Around 50-50 so they can both develop. I believe that if they both show good improvement they'll be our starting corners next year. Milliner will be a top notch corner in this league, we can't expect him to play great his first year. Can't really think of any corners who played that well their first year.
call me crazy, but i feel better with walls in coverage than cro. Every throw towards Walls, he was on the receivers like glue.
You aren't crazy. People that were calling Cro the replacement for Revis are crazy. Cro is all dick and no brain. Even if he studies game film, I doubt he gets most of what he is watching even if he is paying attention.
Everytime someone throws at cromartie I wait for the PI call. He uses his hands wayyyy too much. Sent from my HTCEVODesign4G using Tapatalk 2
For those able to watch all-22, watch Walls in coverage. His technique is unbelievable. He stays low without losing position and can change directions in an instant. He is immune to double moves at Los. Right now, for anyone to be mentioned even remotely on the same breath as Revis on this team, it's not Cro. It's Walls.
I'll watch him, but I don't doubt you are correct. Every time I see him make a play, his technique impresses me.
With the exception of Wilson our depth CBs always seem to play very well for us. I think that has a lot to do with Dennis Thurman. He seems to be able to get a lot out of our DBs. Also dont forget Cromartie was hated when he left SD. He definitely turned his career around when he got here.
Cro is great against the Megatron, Andre Johnson, Brandon Marshall, Randy Moss type receivers because of his big frame, long reach and jump ability. When you put him on guys like Welker, Johnson, etc he lacks because he can't change direction with those shifty WRs. Revis was better against them than Cro because Revis was a smaller frame. But I think Walls is the "anti-Welker" type CB for a lack of better word. I'm looking forward to seeing more of him.
Damn well better. I was at the game and watched him closely quite a bit it was absolutely unbelievable. He was moving so confident/comfortable every single second of every play and he had his man locked down at all times. Even almost chased down an interception on that go route that was way overthrown down the left sideline. He was clearly the best player in the secondary today which just doesn't make any sense at all considering his experience and history. I thought it was kind of a pleasant fluke when he stepped in so competently last week against the Pats but I watched him closely live today and it was really spooky. Cro never looks that fluid even when he's producing at his best and I didn't know if I'd ever see that level of play from a corner in a Jets uniform again. It's hard not to start thinking crazy thoughts about what he might become after seeing that.
I can't lie....I said this guy should be cut after my first glimpse of him because he never looked back for the ball, but I will say something....he sure takes to coaching because he seems like a much improved player & has good size. He is always locked onto receivers & actually is the only Jets CB that comes close to defending the pass or possibly intercepting the pass. to more improvement.
Wilson serves his role well. Change of pace, good nickel guy and can start in a pinch. But to find a gem in Walls is great. Millner played much better and I can feel good rotating and going 4-5 deep at CB and not necessarily losing play. Walls will continue to get PT
