http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2012/09/darrelle_revis_said_he_was_in.html Looking worse and worse. I thought he would almost definitely play on Monday. Still time to get better but the clock is ticking.
*At this particular time, I didn't think it'd be a good idea to create a thread for what I'm about to say, so I'm posting it here* There's an article on NFL.com suggesting that the Packers should explore the possibility of trading Greg Jennings before the October trade deadline. Just out of curiosity, would anyone consider swapping Revis for Jennings + a Round 2 or 3 pick? I'm not supporting or rejecting this notion; rather, I'm just curious about the hypothetical scenario.
Could you please direct me to the part of the study that says 7-10 days is the most dangerous window? I'm pretty sure (not 100%) that 1-7 days would be much more dangerous because if you re injure while experiencing symptoms, you risk long term brain damage. The sooner after the concussion, the greater and more dangerous the risk. That's how I've always understood it. The study said that 6% of the people studied get another concussion after 7-10 days. It didn't say anything about the 7-10 day period being more dangerous unless I just can't find that part. Again, all concussions are not the same. Some keep players out 2-3 weeks, while some are fine in less than a week. Lumping all concussions into the same category of severity is not valid. If the doctors say no, then I will trust their decision.
Some people on here are ridiculous. He had a concussion and he will either be cleared or not for this weekends game. There are Dr's employed by this team that are in fact doctors and went through years and years of school and experience to do what they do. Why is there even questions or arguments about this on here? LOL Who gives three shits what an internet board user thinks in regards to him playing or not. The guy will play based on coach and doctor evaluation
How is that worse? It's the same as it was earlier today when the other article was posted. Is he more "unsure" then he was before? We still have 2 days to make the decision and I don't think any doctors have actually evaluated him yet. It's all speculation.
Its the first article I read that has quotes from Revis saying he is unsure if he will play. Only other quote I heard from him was earlier this week of him saying he feels fine. Also never heard him say his head was in a cloud at any point.
I know Brad will choke in this, but Revis playing or not will likely be the difference in this game. Hope he plays, and I hope i am right.
Thank god. This is a game we could really use him with all those Pitt WRs. Good that he is getting a day of practice in too. Only one who looks to be out this week on D is Thomas and then Keller on O.
I agree 100%. Steelers have very good WRs. Revis on Brown and Cro on Wallace I think is going to be one of the best our corners vs your WR match ups of the year. Even the Steelers 3 and 4 receivers are good so this is a game where we really needed our secondary at full strength. Pouha coming back to help the run game is nice too.
I don't know if this means he was cleared for contact or what, but being on the field w/a helmet on sure seems like it ...
Shouldn't matter anyway because the Steelers are going to go run-heavy in this game because they can't protect Ben and the Jets D should bring big pressure on him all game long. The Steelers are going to play ball control here, so the loss of Revis for this one isn't as great a factor as it could be.
im assuming so. Yesterday all he could do is run and lift. He wasn't in pads and he didn't participate in any drills. At the very least its an improvement but with a helmet on I assume it means he is cleared for contact.
