I don't know how much less pressure there is being down 2 TD's in the second half. They knew they couldn't let up another or it was pretty much over. Regardless, you're suggesting a difference in mental state caused them to tackle better. Couldn't a leader getting in your face and calling you out in front of the guys cause a similar effect?

How are the two idea's much different? You suggested the idea of someone getting in there face and demanding better play was too simplistic but then gave that answer. It seems odd to me.

They're a little different in the sense that the offense moving the ball and keeping the D fresh on the sidelines has to help physically when they are out there playing.

I like Revis saying this. he's putting the accountability back on the players. you best know the players will remember this next year.

the worst part of that was that revis called for more leadership.

    what. be a leader then.

if you're the best cb in the league and you see your defense isn't playing up to its usual standards, step up and say something.

how many leaders does the defense need? if scott is the emotional boost, harris is the quiet one leading by example and ellis is the veteran.. it seems to me that revis is next in line for more leadership.

someone needed to say something sooner. it's not all on revis but a lot of it is.

    i blame those fucking cheeseburgers.

It's just hard to keep getting pumped for each challenge. They beat Manning, then they had an almost perfect game against the Patriots. It's hard to keep up the intensity. Manning pounded his head against the Patriots and Steelers for several years before he finally broke through and won a SB.

Not sure what blows my mind more, Revis saying this crap or guys defending what he is saying? Was beating the Pats a big win? Yes . was it the superbowl, far from it. Leadership? Let me say that if we do not have guys on this defense ,THAT ARE TRUE LEADERS then get rid of the guys we currently have and get some freaking guys that can actually LEAD BY EXAMPLE and make a tackle or two while there at it ! What a crock this all is and I find it unacceptable and I hope the coaches more importantly Tannenbaum do also! Am I to believe with guys like Ellis and Harris and Revis and Jason Taylor who watched his last chance to ever reach a Superbowl get broken arm tackled away not to mention Bart Scott and Trevor Pryce,,,,, none of these guys stepped up or lead or got in anyones grill / face in the huddle or on the sideline and as Revis stated were " not prepared" or "Flat" with the Superbowl on the line? What BS , what a lame excuse!!! I also have heard that we must get games like this one at home? I ask why? So fans can freeze and puke in person at the putrid effort on defense ? Whats next years excuse Revis and company, do you think the Patriots are not going to the playoffs next year or the year after? If we meet them again in rd 1 or the Champioship game , IS THAT IT we will just be content beating them ? Maybe we can just hope not to face them? This game we lost was not just a game in Sept or Oct when there was a chance of a letdown and games to follow, in the playoffs if you letdown or miss opportunities there is no tomorrow!!! As I said I am sitting here in disbelief that one of the best defensive players in the game and possibly the best CB in the league is saying our team lacks leadership! UNREAL-----get some guys in here NOW if that is the case because if what Revis said is the actual truth then this team and organization has to do some major revamping on the defensive side of the ball! I would rather Revis apologized to the media and us fans for the poor effort rather than made the comments he did! The disappontment of the team losing this game was bad this only adds to the disappontment!

CJ if you have a tough time reading it, think about what a tough time I had writing it ! I was pissed when I typed it and will be for a long time! The Grammar and puntuation are probably a mess here and there but according to Revis our team specifically our defense have much bigger problems than my run on sentences.

Everyone keeps complaining about Revis's dropped INT but if he had better hands don't you think he'd be on the other side playing WR? lol

    No.

And anyone complaining about Revis dropping the INT is nitpicking at this point. The front seven lost that game when they let Mendenhall look like Adrian Peterson in the first half.

no. revis doesn't have bad hands. and he's way as a cb than he'd be as a wr. everybody including revis knows he should have made that play. a player of his caliber, in that spot during the afc championship should make that play. it's not the reason we lost, but that's an interception for him every other time.

We had no motivational trash talking. I'll set the temple for years to come.

HERES A TEAM THAT WENT TO THE AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME TWO YEARS IN A ROW.
A TEAM THAT IS A PLAYOFF TEAM BUT JUST DOESN'T HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE CHAMPION.
JUST LIKE THE EAGLES AND BILLS THEY PROVIDE GOOD ENTERTAINMENT IN YEARS PAST BUT WE ALL WAIT FOR THE STAR TO STEAL THE SHOW.

These should be the headlines in the newspapers.
That should motivate them seeing we are a team that has to have bashing as their motivating force.

    QUIT TALKING AND PLAY!

I hope this pisses them off!

The whole "collective consciousness" theory regarding teams has always puzzled me in sports. A lot of times sports commentators talk about teams emotions as if it is just one players' emotions. Mad Dog is famous for this.

I'm sure some players were more complacent or not as fired up than others, but saying an entire team is flat always seemed odd to me. It'd be interesting to have been in the locker room for those magic five minutes that seemed to change everything at halftime. Was it emotion, or coaching that changed? Stimulants? Hey, I'm not ruling anything out.

    How's that?

Players have been making comments they should keep to themselves since way before rex. Maybe not as much as when Adolf Mangini was here, but i don't see how what he said has anything to do with Rex.
