Sure he can. Go 9-7 or 8-8

The chances of that happening are 0%

I don’t think he even has to do that. He got an extension last year for going 5-11 because Chris Johnson was “having fun.”

All he has to do is show some progress so they can justify bringing him back.

3-3 down the stretch gets him to 6-10. With the bar as low as it is, that would be progress. Now you know another reason why McCown is starting and Darnold is being held out with a fake injury. Bowles is coaching for 6-10, not for the good of the franchise

Yes but I personally don't think Bowles is calling the shots now regarding Darnold. And I don't think Bowles is capable of even going 3-3 down the stretch. I mean he's 13-30 in his last 43 as our coach. But even if he does and we sit at 6-10, that would such a tiny difference from the past two years...and you can point to things like losing to the Browns after being up 14-3. The two Miami disasters. Quitting vs. Buffalo. There was no progress at all made this year. The entire Bowles era has been plagued by multiple instances of quitting. Divided locker rooms, poor game plans, undisciplined play. That's the only consistency. He's not surviving that again even at 6-10

Really Bowles should've been canned after 2016 with how that team, a good one, totally imploded. Bowles has never shown an ability to unite the locker room or game plan or inspire and motivate players to reach their potential. Absolutely neve

This team has regressed on both sides of the ball. Record doesn't matter.

We're getting that top 5 pick. I want to be in the top 3 to continue to fortify the nucleus. A good one is here with guys like Darnold and Adams and Maye. Herndon I feel has great potential to be a top tight end. But we need to be active in free agency and maybe land Clelin Ferrell. Or...if we have Justin Herbert fall to us we could really rip somebody off for more picks.

If we go 8-8 and 9-7 that means that regression would've been totally reversed. But we know that has no chance of happening. It would like the most improbable occurrence in Jets history

Herm who? All I remember bout him and his trashy career was that he had a day of fame as an Eagle who apicked up the Giants fumble and ran for TD

News Headline: "Sam sits...Smart Jet fans rejoice" haha

    Here are the upcoming games:

@ TEN (road game against a top scoring defense)
@ BUF (road game against a very good defense in terrible conditions)
HOU (nationally televised game against a division leader)
GB (not looking that daunting but still Aaron Rodgers)
@ NE (no rookie has ever beaten NE in Foxborough and it will be freezing)

Can’t say I’m gonna shed a tear about him missing any of those...

Makes you wonder what he actually did to his foot. Whether it's Bowles trying to save his job with McCown (LOL) or the team actually being cautious, I am glad Sam is not on the field with his injury.

He'd be like the dumb guy in the commercial who always says "rock" while the animated character has a hand such that always says paper.

Foot injuries to the soft tissue take forever to heal. My son sprained the arch of his foot last year and the doctor said a broken bone would have healed faster. I’m sure it’s just being cautious. All the other rumors are just fans being paranoid.

Again, no reason to bring Sam back this season. Let him watch and perhaps learn something from our future QB coach.

So is anyone still questioning whether Sam was really injured?

Get with the times, the narrative is now that Darnold is injury-prone.

    What’s the better narrative?

    He was benched?

    He’s a quitter?

    Or he’s injury prone?

One for the Daily News, one for the Post, and one for ESPN.

Wait, so he’s not a quitter?

    Not benched?
