Just my personal opinion, I would trade back a few and if we are dead set on QB I am looking at Lance over Wilson. Regarding Wilson, he is also a 1 year wonder just like Lance. Sorry to say but a torn labrum (left side) doesnt heal on its own, it can heal to some degree but not completely. Size wise, Wilson doesnt compare to Lance. I view Lance as a Cam Newton but with better overall QB skills. Lance's ability to move in the pocket is crucial in today's NFL. Once again, this is just my opinion and that is if we are dead set on drafting a QB.
Wow, another very reputable guy, former QB, QB coach Tim Jenkins likes Wilson's game the most after breaking down multiple films of Zach, Fields, Lance, and now Trevor Lawrence. That one carries some weight.
That can't be. We have all these QB experts on the forum that have said that there's not a QB worth taking other than Lawrence in this year's draft and we should take an OT or a skinny WR, or trade down for a haul of picks and wait until next year to take a QB.
Are you jumping on board the Wilson hype-train now then? You liked Lawrence the same as most and then Fields and is it now Wilson? Hopefully, we get Watson and guarantee a top-class QB instead of the crapshoot between those 4 rookies.
I still think the smart move is to grab Dak Prescott (if the Cowboys are dumb enough to let him hit free agency) and trade down a couple of times. If the Niners are willing to swap pick 12 for 23 and Sam so much the better. I just saw a mock yesterday where the first defensive player went off the board at 10 or 11. If we are patient we can fill plenty of holes and add at least one more first rounder for next year.
I personally think spending $30+ mil on a QB coming of MAJOR surgery should be last on the list. Way too many question marks. And I think Dak is a good QB but he’s also played with some pretty great talent. There’s no Zeke, Cooper or Gallup here. Not even close. We’d have to sign Allen Robinson and draft Etienne or Harris to even start to bridge the talent gap between us and the Cowboys.
As soon as I started watching game film and analysis film of him, I knew that he was a great prospect too. I've been saying I like Wilson as well as Fields for a month or so. There are some risks with Wilson that concern me (injuries to both shoulders and his over aggressiveness, that I think he will have to curtail in the NFL), but there's no doubting his mobility, poise in the pocket, and his arm talent. He also looks to have a very good handle on how to play the QB position and to be a pretty good leader. I also like Lance. He could wind up being better than either Fields or Wilson, and could possibly even wind up better than Lawrence. He's got talent and has been well coached. He's definitely riskier imo, but if JD takes him at #2 I won't complain unless Lance doesn't pan out and both Fields and Wilson do or JD winds up making the same mistake as his predecessors and not greatly improving the skill position players around Lance. I know that JD will fix the OL. I believe that he will seriously upgrade the skill position players/weapons around our QB, and probably won't make the same mistakes as his predecessors, but until he actually does it...
I disagree. I think short of not adding a QB and rolling with Sam, that's the worst possible move that JD could make. Watson at least is a top 3 QB in the NFL and very accurate. Dak isn't that. I'm not paying him close to Watson money if he hadn't been seriously injured, but with that injury, there's no way I'd even consider him.
Spot on. If this were the year Haskins was coming out, fans who love Fields and want us to take him #2 overall would be saying the EXACT same thing about Haskins. In college, Haskins looked amazing. IT'S SO HARD TO TELL who has that tiny spark that separates Dewayne Haskins from Patrick Mahomes.
And even if he was one of 4 captains it was just how the coaching staff wanted to run things, why it would be a mark against him is just Cimini trying to make something out of nothing
Dak is a top 10 QB. You can win a SB with a top 10 QB. How many championships have the Texans won with Watson so far? Are we really any better than the Texans if we give them all of our first rounders for the next two or three years? A fool and their draft picks were lucky enough to get together in the first place.
That there is the crux of the whole situation, Your on the clock... Who do you pick and where @#2 trade back and hope to grab the one you want a little later. Every year the top prospect QB's are all full of praise and he can do this, he can be an FQB and then reality hits 50% of them hard, is that too generous still? Rosen, was a couldn't miss, Sam, is Jackson really an FQB, fuck is Allen? Of course, after having Brady against us we are always on the lookout for our very own version. It would be a brave man at the Jags to skip on Lawrence, he turns out to be a great then you have that hanging over you forever, he busts and people will forgive you because everybody at some point believed he was the guy, the consensus #1 pick. So much possible upside from them but all with a huge amount of risk. No risk in Watson (bar injury I guess) but at the end of the day we have to trust in JD but the shite that came before him make it very hard to place all your faith in the Jets making the right choice
Wilson has the captain "C" on his jersey in every pic I can find. I will say though, if he wasn't a captain that's pretty strange for the star QB of your team. We know JD likes him some captains.
How many championship games has Dak taken the Cowboys to with all that talent available? Nobody is giving the Texans all our first-rounders for the next 2 or 3 years either, that is just hyper bowl.
