I don’t see anything that Lance brings to the table that Fields doesn’t. Fields is already a better thrower of the football while still having a lot of room to improve and has all the dual threat capabilities that Lance has. To me the only argument that can be made for Lance over Fields is you can move down the board and get Lance which is pretty enticing.
Ok, maybe he throws it 75 yards in shorts but when it's gametime he's a lost little puppy who has no decision making skills. Good luck with him buddy.
give darnold one more....there are no sure thing QB's at #2 and if a franchise is going to become a good franchise they have to hit on picks. No gambles in the first round. Anyone other than sewell at 2 is a reach. Pair sewell with becton and call it a day. maybe one of the Qb's falls to 26 or whatever the seattle pick is. don't draft for need. that's what free agency is for.
I wouldn't use one of our top picks on a RB. I like the RB class next year waaayyy better. that could be the year to use seattles 1st on a RB who can plug in right away. This draft we need WRs (or pitts) some o-line, a CB and an EDGE. maybe a late flyer QB if we don't wind up with a QB with our top pick. we have a lot of holes. we can go 1 more year with perine, adams, and ty.
Against most of the teams he's played he's not under any real pressure and has lots of time to read and throw, but under pressure he seems to tuck and run from what I saw.
I'm glad you enjoyed it, that coach in YouTube actually put out another video 1 month ago on his mechanics. Didn't want to flood but check it out
Lance goes through progressions faster, he has much better footwork on drop backs, just as good in RZ w less scripted plays & given his size Hes likely a better ball carrier. If you wanna say Fields has better arm talent fine..but not by much. And Lance likely has the smoother delivery. Fields is better on intermediate throws. But Lance hasnt been asked to do alot of that & his receivers have let him down on some nice tight throws. Meanwhile Fields has a top 5 surrounding cast in all of CFB.
Sorry, but that's not true. 101 said that Jackson was his favorite QB and that's who he wanted. I believe there were a few others as well.
I def was on the "do not want" Lamar list. I was wrong in that for sure, he is mentally strong and has a great work ethic which is where I was worried about.
I wouldn’t be opposed to Sewell at 2 at all. He’s so young he can instantly help at RT and be fine with it... Kick Fant in to play RG and add another LG in Thuney or use a 3rd/4th on one. That the OL complete for a long time.
Depends on the coach. If the coach wants Sam.. fine roll with it.. if he wants someone we can grab with Seattle’s pick or a 2nd (Jones/Trask/Lance) and resign Flacco I’m cool with it too.. Number 2 should either be traded or we take Sewell or Rousseau.. I don’t feel Fields or Wilson are in play at 2
I agree with all your wrote NC. Your analysis is always first rate. Thx, man, for the compliment. With Sam, can't the jets refuse to pick up his 5th year option, and still keep/play him for 2021? I agree with you that the option ($21-25M) should not be picked up now (or on May 1) for what he has shown. Keeping him but refusing the option runs a risk of Sam having a good 2021 and then becoming a free agent in 2022. That is why I wondered in my initial post if they can refuse the 5th year option, but still put the transition or franchise tag on him for 2022 (if his performance merits it). Anyway, it is a tough call for Douglas. I hate to see the jets burn that second pick for Wilson (or any other QB), when the jury is still out on Sam, and the last two years he has had a terrible coach and few if any playmakers working with him (save Crowder). AND the jets have many needs to address. Mid round TE? Yeah, probably, you talked me into it. Especially since Douglas likes to trade down and should have several picks.
After watching Derrick Henry slam a few DBs to the turf, it's hard to argue with your theory for RBs wearing down defenses!
well it was definitely the minority. I liked jackson and allen and everyone including you called me a moron and was in love with baker. then called me a baker hater for some insane reason which makes no sense.
The Jets could keep Sam and not pick up the option, but if I'm right that Sam needs to sit for half a season or the whole season in order to fix his flaws, what's the point in bringing him back? If they start him, and his flaws/ (footwork/mechanics, inability to read Ds) aren't really fixed or improved, he won't be any better than what we've seen this season. It could be the coup de gras on finishing ruining him. Will most of the fanbase accept him back as the starter? If this site is any indication, I think most Jets fans want a new starter. If he plays well, then what? Tagging him would probably pay him about as much as what he was scheduled to make with the 5th year option. At that point, he may not want to re-sign with the Jets, and I couldn't blame him. If the Jets refuse to pick up his option, it's saying that they don't believe in him. Why would he then want to stay with the Jets? His agent probably wouldn't be very happy with that situation either. If he refuses to re-sign, he can simply walk away, and at best the Jets would get a late 3rd round compensatory pick, and that's only if they didn't sign a big contract FA or two. I don't have a problem with keeping Sam through the draft to ensure that they get the QB they want (if they do indeed draft a QB), showcasing him in preseason, and trying to improve his trade value, and then trading him before the trade deadline. Things could work out for him here and he could decide to stay with the Jets, but that's a huge risk imo. If I were the new HC or Douglas, I wouldn't be willing to risk my career on being able to fix Sam. Of course, it's also a risk if they trade him and he goes on to become a quality starter elsewhere and the QB they draft doesn't pan out. The thing is however that just because he works out somewhere else doesn't mean that he ever would have here. He may need a change of scenery and a fresh start. I also wouldn't have a problem if the Jets decided to keep Sam, brought in a veteran, and let Sam, the veteran and Morgan compete for the starting job or if the veteran was good enough, making him the starter and letting Sam sit and focus on fixing his flaws, but again, I'm not certain that Sam and his agent would be willing to accept that. I trust Douglas until he proves untrustworthy, so I will hope for the best whatever decision he makes. I like Sam and it would be great if he could work out here, but I just don't think he can or will.
Ehhhh Allen couldn't hit the right side of a barn for 3 years lol. He was living on his mobility. Now he's dropping dimes left and right
