Three passes hit his receivers in the facemask. It's also likely a different game if Kelce doesn't drop that big first down conversation early in the game. Net +11 points. Definitely wasn't his finest performance but that games a lot closer if his skill position players didn't decide to shit the bed on him.

Not to mention the ridiculous throw in the corner that Pringle couldn't haul in. Sam makes zero of those plays. Stop comparing him to Mahomes and his SB performance. It's insulting.

If he had thrown for 1 TD he would've exceeded Sam's average TD's per game this season, and Mahomes had 2 TD's dropped.

Do you ever look up Sam's stats? I mean he literally averaged less than 1 TD per game this season and you're honestly trying to argue Sam would've outperformed Mahomes. It's just nonsensical and a waste of time to respond to.

Ah yes. But he didn't. 0 TDs. 3 FGs in the most important game of his career. The best QB on earth, in his most important game, gets 3 FGs.

How did this happen? How can a team have not only the best by far QB, but the best by far offensive weapons, all playing in their most important game, and score 3 FGs???

    How does that eve happen???

Based on what though? Just because his uncle is rich? Mannings were rich, that worked out OK. Seriously, what does anyone actually know about him and his parents to conclude anything like this? Every interview I saw the kid comes out humble and team oriented, and sounds like a great leader. I know some people just hate the rich and just a mere fact Zach's extended family is wealthy is enough to shit all over him, but the guy worked hard to get better, recovered from lengthy shoulder injury and improved. Now working in the same camp as Fields and Trask. If there is any evidence about him being a brat aside from hatred for his rich uncle, I haven't seen it.

I don't get it. Our line is not abused in every game like his was in SB. What is the point of this? Sam is the WORST passer in NFL by a wide margin from CLEAN POCKET. The comparison to Mahomes in one game where his line completely gave out due to injuries in SB is simply ludicrous.

Meh. I'd be lying to you if I said there's a lot behind it because there's not. It's just the look and vibe he gives off to me.

Don't take my opinion on it too strongly as I usually try to have more facts behind my basis. This is just a feel thing for me and I certainly don't hate the rich. But locker room dynamics are extremely interesting and a quarterbacks style is very important.

It has nothing to do with Sam. We have a team in the Chiefs that many on here would KILL for. The Chiefs roster is what many have been calling for for the Jets for 20 years now. But then the SB happened. The Jets 'dream team' was destroyed for the whole world to see. The team we've been striving to look like, FQB Maholes, top weapons galore, our DREAM TEAM. If JD speds the next 2 years building our offense into the KC East with top FQB and killer weapons all around, then it will be our turn to get crushed in the SB.

They're 1-1 in the SUPERBOWL in the past two years. There was no destruction of a dream team. They're still working on a dynasty. Enough with the dumb takes dude. Seriously.

If we had a good QB and not much in the way of picks, I'd say use our resources to build the team. But our QB is probably a bust, and we have more value in picks than anyone in the league, so I think we should invest in a QB.

A lot of elements of truth here (although it will likely piss off many). A good Qb is key... but in general
Qb’s get too much of the credit and too much of the blame.

This SB proved once again that football is won and lost in the trenches not simply having
    best Qb.

With that said, No way you could keep Brady (or any other great) to 3 fg’s in a SB so Mahomes bid for GOAT legacy took a real hit.

Peyton Manning got held to one touchdown in the Super Bowl against the Seahawks, which is worth less than 3 field goals.

Normally I'd agree with you, but not with the Jets WRs. Heck I remember many times when passes were dropped and Herndon took a whole year almost to fix his butterfingers. Guys like Berrios, Cager, Hogan, etc are not going to catch anything out of normal catch radius.
Agreed that Sam didnt make many great decisions. But he is known to be able to improvise, use his legs and throw on the run. Hard to tell many things when the Qb is running for his life every other down.

I know his dad owns a few convenience stores but I really don't think they are anywhere close to yacht money. It is his uncle that has yacht money but it's not money that has been passed down through generations or anything. His dad came from a single parent household and worked in a mini mart during his college years before starting to acquire businesses so I think his parents probably instilled a good work ethic in him. Is there report that makes you think frat boy? I haven't read much more on his background but haven't seen anything when I was looking around to hint at a personality issue.

His uncle is worth $400 million. You don't think that has affected his or his parents life at all? Maybe not but that's one greedy bastard if he hasn't helped his family out.

    This is the report.

The problem is that things like this were trickled out obviously about Manziel, but also Rosen and Jimmy Clausen some odd years ago. To be fair to the narrative, Baker had the same concerns.

3 FG's!!!..............against a Tampa D that hadn't changed all that much from the previous 7-9 season.

Only reason they were in the playoffs, let alone the Superbowl to be able to do that is they got themselves a FQB who could attract additional talent. You say KC are the team we wanted to build but perhaps Tampa Bay '19 is the team we'll get if we don't address the QB position.

A FQB alone solves nothing but a near full season from Gabbert, Henne, Barkley and Love doesn;t see those teams in the championship game.

    Wilson's a Mormon, right? I can't see the same trajectory as Manziel's off-field issues.

We're more likely to have negative press about him not securing enough game tickets for his wives or his family's wagon train getting caught in traffic outside Metlife.

We don’t know who is driving that price...

I think if the value is that high for Sam is because he only will cost $9mil this year and if they pickup his 5th year option of $25 mil then they are getting a starter for an average of $17 mil.

If a team like the Saints who are in cap hell can’t get a deal done with Winston and they can get a starter for $9mil with Sam... that’s where the value is.... that’s probably an option they explore for a 2nd round pick or maybe even a 1st.

I’m officially back on the Justin Fields band wagon!

I went back and watched his entire 2020 season and most of 2019 and yes he wasn’t very good in 3 games in the last 2 years. The semi final vs Clemson he made some questionable plays in 2019 but really that was his only bad game as that season he looked like a bigger version of Russell Wilson. The 2 games this year where I was very critical of his play and for good reason. However, he battled through those games to still come away with a W even though he was having a tough day. He never gave up or stopped playing or throw any hissy fits out of frustration. He just kept playing and did what he needed to do to secure the win.

then you watch games where he was just brilliant like the Penn st, Rutgers and Clemson games. I got blown away with how awesome he looked. This kid is all business and just wants to be great with his attitude and physical abilities. He is a perfect fit for a Shanahan style offence that relies on a heavy run game, play action and high velocity throws. I think scouts are going to be blown away at his pro day because I think his deep ball accuracy is the best in college football. yes, even better than Lawrence deep ball accuracy and everyone knows how much I love Lawrence as a prospect.
Fields reminds me so much of Russ Wilson that I’m not sure we can pass on him at #2. It would be like passing on Mahomes and Watson!! Oh wait... that happened...

I think his dad worked hard and has made a good living. I didn't read anything about his uncle giving them money to be able to afford a yacht or anything else of real value. Is it greed if the rest of the family earns a good living and has no need of his money?

The scouts statement, "Wilson] has character concerns, rich kid who is an entitled brat - uncle owns Jet Blue -, parents are a pain, not a leader, selfish, and he's a know-it-all." has nothing of substance to back it up.

Here is one reply to the above scout.

“Wow. I mean, first of all, everything you said there just floored me and it floored me because number one, I think he’s gonna be the second quarterback picked, not the third,” Schefter said. “I think he’ll go second. I’ve heard nothing but great things about the guy, and that he got quote unquote “special intangibles.” I hung up the phone, literally before I came on the show, with somebody who was telling me all about him, and it couldn’t have been any further from what you said. I can’t even believe we’re talking about the same guy.”
