  1. Elite training to be a QB coach;the Jets & Bowles had to beg him to take the job even after he already turned it down.

Fckn guy hikes the entire length of the Appalachian Trail and "can't communicate" with a 21 year old who is probably smarter than him. There's some kind of cognizant dissonance that I'm just not getting here. I wonder if Jeremy Bates killed any wild boars. Who was the boar hunter again? I forget now. o_O

It does appear that this could very well be a re-hash of the earlier interview, but people are talking about it so . . . Possibly a Jets fan plant using a different approach to the good ole Idzik billboard. Funny as hell if so. It's definitely not Steve Serby, that's for sure. I'll never be convinced that he even likes that Jets. He needs to be choked out again.

Think you misread that link you posted. It claims some staff wanted Bates to simply the offense, put a wrist band on Sam and baby him.
Sam struggled but faced some very good Defensive teams and looks like he has grown quite a bit. Bates seems to have done the right thing by not dumbing things down too much an the story claims others wanted him to do

IF what you say is true, how could it be Bowles when Bowles has the power to hand the guy a pair of boots and tell him to take a hike??

Maybe it's Barry McCockiner, haha. This is turning into Richard Gere and the gerbil.

I couldn't agree more... remember way back in before TC and then in TC when they raved about Sam's knowledge of the PB? So you have someone who has the ability to understand things and not write it down... what is the problem? If one looks at the season most of SAMs failure was the ultra- conservative game plan/play calling coupled with bad OL play in most games. It seemed when he did excel it was because the play book was opened up and he was allowed to throw the ball beyond 5 yards.

What I find interesting is that the article doesn't say SAM didn't understand concepts or couldn't execute the plays or whatever. So I am left with the premise that the OC had a problem with not being the smartest guy in the room and to make matters worse for him, the object of his frustration was a 21 year old who it seems is smarter.

Side note: When I worked (retired now), I worked for some fortune 500 Chairman and let me tell you... they do not write shit down. It is freaking "uncanny" and a little unsettling to be in a room where someone can think about things that you never though of or worse yet, argue with you about financial numbers, division strategy and NOT have anything but their brain power. I learned very fast to be on my A++ game or as one gentlemen put it, "I pay you o think" if that is a problem there is the door.

    He'll claim he invented it.

If he did...he forgot to trademark it though!

Josh to Sam: "I had a talk with Bates today"

Sam: "Really? What did he say?"

Josh: "Don't worry about what Bates said...just keep ignoring him. You're doing great, keep it up!!!"

One thing that will almost ALWAYS get a rookie QB in trouble is changing the play at the LOS, especially if it results in a pick/fumble/punt.

Changing the play is something a QB EARNS over time. But I can see Sam being far enough ahead of the curve that if he didn't like the play as called he would change it, pissing Bates off (more than once).

Who knows for sure, but something like this would cause tension.

We won't know for sure until Sam writes a book after his HOF induction.

I can't explain much about Todd Bowles' thought process the past 4 years. :D

Who wanted to work for Bowels ? No one was running to take the job and yes the mistake was not firing Bowels 2 years ago.

As soon as I saw the title of this thread I thought of the black and white cookie from Seinfeld.
