You really went against the grain on that one. ...saying that a 5'7 white running back would be cut is genius.
He talked him up about he played hard. If you read his quotes it was VERY obvious Woodhead would not be here long. He basically made it sound like the kid worked hard and deserved the acclaim that he made the team. The 1st thing he said when he was asked about him is that this thing isn't final.
I know but you cut him after a week not the day after... this is just fucking around. I really don't get why we didn't cut one of the DBs...
Don't give me that garbage. Go look back at this thread and see all the bullshit people were throwing at me. Then I even had to hear it after he didn't fall to the first cut. I knew it was obvious this guy wouldn't be playing for the Jets. Clearly I was in the minority amongst the fanbase.
You have to realize that the majority of the posters that think Danny Woodhead is a NFL caliber running back know close to nothing about the game. They are rooting for him because he's a Jet. He wasn't on this team, no one would know who he was. Sure, it's fun to watch a smallish, white running back do some damage on practice squad players, but if these guys knew anything about the NFL, they'd know Woodhead has no shot.
Which is what I've been saying all along. And I had to hear tons of bullshit that Wayne Jr. broke the NCAA rushing record, ran all over defenses this preseason, and is at least as big as Washington and Sproles. The guy isn't NFL material. I said it repeatedly and had to fight about it over and over. Then there were gloat posts after he made the first cut. All I said was "Told ya so," because I did. It might have been elementary to you and I, but it wasn't to a majority of the Jets' fanbase.
You do realize DB includes CBs AND safeties. A defensive team carrrying 9-10 DBs (5 CBs and 4-5 safeties) isn't uncommon.
Woodhead added no value to the team other than his "effort." He would not have made the field. Pro Football is no place for a Rudy. I wish him luck, but he really added nothing to the team.
all I know is that Woodhead will probably be picked up by the Pats and make a big impact for them i'm not saying we should have kept him because he wasn't going to get any carries here but you know the Pats will pick him up and he'll be a star, lol
I thought Woodhead looked really good on Thursday night. From the endzone, I watched him cut in-and-out and turn on a dime. I knew the Jets wouldn't keep him, but I had hoped they would. He'll catch-on with some NFL team.
He would. have been a nice story, but he would probably need 2 backs ahead of him to get hurt just to be active. Not surprised he got cut, and don't feel bad for the guy. This is a busy time in the NFL. People get waived and catch on elsewhere. Why should Woodhead make the roster over someone like Cole because he's short and white? Chances are, he'll be practice squadded as he should. Hopefully, no one claims him. If they do, I wish him well, but there was no reason to keep a 4th halfback who couldn't contribute otherwise.
I'm just curious, why would they put him in so much against the Eagles if they weren't considering keeping him on the roster? I mean, he couldn't have done much better. What were they looking for him to do? Yes, injuries are always a possiblity, but why not give someone reps that would actually be on the team?
They like the guy, not uncommon for a team to give a guy alot of reps to showcase himself for a roster spot somewhere else if they have no need or plans for him. Could be.
That was his audition for the rest of the NFL: The "thanks for your hard work and intensity but we have no room for you, here is your shot to impress other teams" audition. Would love him on the PS but wish him luck where ever he goes.
