Revis got beat badly once on a double move and Wallace caught the ball out of bounds. He didn't get beat any other times. He allowed one reception to Wallace across the middle and tackled him as soon as he caught the ball. He was right on Wallace on the TD and deflected the pass. I give Wallace props for managing to catch the ball after it hit him low and before it hit the ground. Revis also defended (deflected) a couple other throws to Wallace. Wallace's biggest gain was against Dennard.

Certainly not a shutdown performance, but not as bad as some would make it.

You didn't get the joke, obviously. [Any Jets fan that watched my posts in this board will easily see through it.]

He also gave up 22 yards to Wallace on a crossing route. (0:01, 1st QTR)

But I guess Belichick is getting the defense used to Browner only being able to play one side of the field once his suspension ends, because they had Revis playing LCB the entire game, and Tannehill only threw at him 5 times. The majority of the times Wallace was on side side, they were running the ball.

Byz. Don't make me do this.

    ==============================================================================

Revis was beat on TD pass in 3rd qtr [7:01] by the same Wallace. Well worth the 12M I say.

While he didn't play poorly by any stretch, the point you seem to be missing is that right now he isn't playing up to Revis standards. A solid performance is not what you expect from Revis- you expect sheer dominance and 20 - 30 QB ratings throwing against him.

He's supposed to shut down half the field on his own- take his guy completely out of the game- not cramp up in the 4th quarter and give up multiple significant plays in one game.

It's far too early for Patriots fans to panic, but they should not be happy with what they saw out of Revis on Sunday.

That's a great defense of your position. It's really nice to have opposing fans who come in here and argue rationally and passionately.

The 3-4 is what you use when you really need to stop the run. I see Belichik's use of the 3-4 on Sunday as an admission on his part that the run defense is not good enough at this point.

One could argue that the End Of The Pats was in 2005. I mean, yeah, New England made noise over the past decade, but nobody was arguing "End of the Bills" after they stopped losing Super Bowls.

The Pats should have had two more Super Bowl wins. Neither of the Giants teams that beat them were as good as them. If you put a pass rush in Brady's face you can beat him pretty consistently.

They should also have had at least 3 perfect seasons by now. Damn that Goodell and his year in 1981 as a Jets intern. Totally screwed Bahston out of their glawry.

3 of the 4 pre game talking head on CBS predicted a Pats appearance in this year's Super Bowl. I am just not seeing it. First of all, they probably are not getting home field. Second of all, they lose when they DO have home field.

I find it very amusing how everybody is counting the Patriots out because they lost in Week 1... Do not ever sleep on Brady and company. Guarantee they will be back in the thick of things sooner than later.

But New England doesn't have the personnel to run a 3-4 defense. I don't think you can just switch between 3-4 and 4-3 on a game-by-game basis unless you have extremely versatile personnel, and very special d-line and linebacker coaches who can coach both.

With the personnel that they have, you want a 4-3. Vince Wilfork can't really handle two-gaps like he used to. He's big enough, but with his age and recent injury I don't think you can just ask him to clog up the middle anymore.

I think Belichick was just really over-confident. He probably felt like he could just walk through the Dolphins, and figured that this was a good chance to try out some new defensive looks so that other teams won't get as much tape on his real defense. He showed zero respect for Miami, and his team was deservingly thrashed because of it.

The one where Wallace beat him probably should have been a TD but the one where Wallace got the TD should have probably been an incomplete pass, so it evened out.

Knowshawn Moreno is leading the NFL in rushing yards after week 1 after running all over NE right up the gut. Ivory and CJ is gonna FEAST on them.
