You guys do realize he will almost certainly be cut if we don't make a trade right? You also realize that his knee his falling apart correct? Lastly, you do realize that the guy doesn't fit the damn 3-4? THE JETS HAVE TRIED HIM AT 3-4 DE! So stop pretending like they haven't tried it already.
Yes they tried it. And it worked out damned well. So calm down. He doesn't fit the prototypical 3-4 DE bill because he's too short. You change the technique, it can be done with good results. We saw it happen in limited action. Let's have him do it more. It isn't that difficult. He's going to cost us a lot of money to keep, but it isn't like we NEED the cap space. So quit focusing on the number. As I have said, however, changing the style of the defense can cause problems, especially if it is just to fit a single player in.
Training camp starts in July and he is due a 3 million dollar bonus in june... If he gets that 3 million dollar bonus...you can bet we are keeping him.
Correct on all points. And I don't think we're fooling Denver or anyone else into an overvalued deal.
I say keep him and redo his contract. The Broncos do not have a third rounder anyway and thats what we need not another fourth rounder. At this point I say we just keep him.If he has failed two medicals already, then he is not likely to pass another, plus his value(4th and 5th rounder) has dropped since all of this.Keep him and find a way to use him.
i'll take anything for this guy at this poit...it's getting ridiculous. if we cant trade him i say we cut him or move him to end and just see what he can do. have we even tried that?
His knees did not prevent him from contributing his 57 tackles and 4 sacks last year. Lets rework his contract and keep him, we get more value from keeping him than trading him at this point(there are no takers anyway). What if Jenkins gets injured? We need some depth on that line.
What did his knees get bad this offseason? A team trading for a player will obviously look closely at everything to make sure they are not getting damaged goods or any question marks, so obviously the physical was on the tough side, coiupled with talk that he failed one with the Bengals. How does reworking his contract hurt us?Of course the moment we cut him, these same teams where he failed physicals will snap him up and give him an incentive laden contract.
And I will say it again.DRob will be playing football in September. Did he pass a physical at the beginning of last season?Yet he played so don't give me that"He cant play if he cant pass a physical" Unless his condition took a turn for the worst this offseason, then his knees are good enough to play and he will be playing in September if not for the Jets then for one of the many teams in the NFL who need a DT.Zach Thomas and Dan Morgan are even playing with concussions, Drob has been playing with the same knee condition, yet you are saying that because he has failed a physical his career is over?By September he will pass the same physical that he failed and he will play and be average.
When did he fail a physical last year? He was in camp and started the season normally. Yes, I'm saying if he can't pass a physical his career is over. Unless you are saying the only reason he failed the phtsical is that he is fat or something..all indications are from both Cincinnati and Denver that he failed it because of the bone on bone condition in his knee. That will not get better by September or ever.
