People who would like the team to do well care about Bryan Thomas being injured. There's a reason Mike Pettine said he's one of his favorite players ever.

He does a little bit of everything for this team, does the dirty work to help the run D, and he's really not that bad in underneath coverage against backs and tight ends. Extremely underrated player. I always laugh when people say he sucks. Mr. E is right.. some people just don't know what theyre talking about.

Yeah, Mauga had no business covering Gates.

Brian Thomas is fantastic at setting the edge on outside runs. He is not a passrusher but he doesn't need to be. Our team misses him more then most fans realize because they only like to see the big plays which is why people get on Scott sometimes. When theres 22 people on the field there is a whole lot more going on then most fans see. Brian Thomas will be missed this season.

That was a blown coverage by Eric Smith.

Mauga was supposed to have help behind him and Smith wasn't there.

As a backer though, he needs to at least jam Gates at the line...that was a big mistake.

The funny about this post is that the truth is the complete opposite. BT is a jack of all trades master of none kind of guy, though he is a pretty dominant run defender at the 3-4 OLB spot. He's not too different from Calvin Pace in that they are good at everything. Calvin is a the slightly better pass rusher while BT is the much better run defender. I wish in 2008 we got more of a more prominent pass rusher instead we really got a BT clone.

Bryan Thomas is old, slow and useless. Cut his ass. Shocking our team suddenly became better when the old man hit the IR.

Agreed. BT was huge for our defense, and tossing him to the curb is complete BS. Its pretty unfortunate that we will most likely never see BT in Green and White again.

On the positive side, our glaring weakness was setting the edge on run plays. Even though guys like Maybin, Westerman etc are not nearly as good as BT or as physical they are able to get in position so that the runner is forced to cut it inside. Their lateral speed plays a big role, yet I would much much rather have BT he has been as solid as they come since the day we drafted him and thats no way to treat a career Jet. Bottom line.

    ^^^ Wow is that HotGarbage.

Puck, maybe AssStrike is upset cause you stuck your avy in his brown eye?

If you are bashing BT, go back and read E's, UKK's, Biggs, Honcho etc posts.

Then pull your heads out from your asses and try to pay more attention to what is happening AWAY from where the ball is. You might then a clue as to what is going on down on the field.
