Well one of them is on his 4th team because 3 other franchises already got tired of his selfish act and his troubles with teammates/the law. Now on his 4th team he is yet again having issues with his teammates. He quits when the going gets tough, he cares less about the game and more about his tv show every week and he very visibly has issues with sharing the limelight with other talented players on his team.... oh and he should be in jail like 4 times over... VS. The other guy that stays out of the news and just shows up for work every week no matter the circumstances. When he started emerging as a good young receiver and his team put a horrendous QB like Tim Tebow at the helm, he didn't complain and adjusted well as a blocking WR/red zone guy for the good of his team. When he signed with a new team and they saddled him with a horrendous QB like Geno Smith, he did not complain but rather worked on route running to improve/perfect his craft. When new talented players have been brought in at his position he has adjusted to work well with them. He has never been arrested and never had teammates go on the record about issues with him. is that a good enough explanation?
No problem. As I said he can definitely be upgraded. I agree that he shouldn't get big money, and that it should be for a team-friendly deal.
stays out of the news? dude had a reality show and he doesnt show up to work every week no matter the circumstances ... http://www.espn.com/blog/new-york/j...sits-for-fitz-a-refreshing-show-of-solidarity marshall practices more than decker does, but hes the quitter? decker was unproven when tebow was the qb and was in no position to complain ... and he knew geno was going to be the starter when he signed with the jets so he made that bed marshall had no problem sharing the limelight with decker last year or alshon jeffery in previous years, i dont know what that jab is about marshall tries to be a leader but his style is abrasive and rubs people the wrong way .... that doesnt mean hes any less of a team player than a guy like decker who would rather not be a leader at all
We don't know that. Putting Smith In Fitz's system is like giving a Ferrari to a one arm racing car driver.
What in my post could have been taken as me looking it as a fan? Was it when I said "the guy has been a rock in the middle for years and pretty confident he will come back from this injury." or was it "He would be 35 at the end of 3 more seasons, don't see why he wouldn't be still playing at a high level." Before this season he missed a total of 4 games in 10 seasons, one injury which he rushed back from does not mean his body is breaking down on him, anyone that surmises otherwise is just guessing. There is more evidence that he will come back based on prior seasons, than there is evidence "it's uncertain if he'd be able to play a full schedule again next year". I'm pretty sure he never missed a game in college either. You have no evidence that he won't last another 2-3 years and based upon his past injury history, which has not been significant, coupled with the fact that many centers play well into their mid 30's, there is a better chance than not he plays 2-3 more years. Whether the Jets front office sees he is going to be capable or not remains to be seen. If he is not playing here he will be playing somewhere else.
Yea its about that time we restock and re-up on this roster. Potential Cuts: Pryor Revis Harris (Maybe restructure but prob best to move on) Marshall (Wouldn't mind him back but maybe best to cut ties at this point) ASJ Giacomini Mangold (Restructure or move on) Clady Fitz Henderson Trade Richardson. Prob only get a 4th or a 5th but it's better then a kick in the ass. Time to move on.
We are a young rebuilding team. Mangold has missed games due to injury two years in a row. If we are serious about the youth movement and doing this rebuild correctly we do not have $9 mil to give to Mangold this year. He has been one of my favorite Jets for a while now but at the very least we should see if we can get anything for him in a trade.
Pryor only costs $2.5 mil against the cap if we keep him, If we cut him he counts for $5 mil of dead cap space. In other words cutting him costs more than keeping him.
Lol... Pryor makes no sense to cut, he is cheap and too much dead money. ASJ is the best TE this team has had in years. He played ok in limited action, he would cost nothing to keep. I'm pretty sure we get a 3rd for Richardson if he walks in 2018...
Pryor needs to go. Trade him to avoid the cap hit, clear up 2.7M of space, and get a little something in return. if not, we lose him next year for nothing anyway. i agree on keeping ASJ at least for a camp tryout. if he's not showing much, then dump him at final cutdowns.
Pryor has been bad. He' been lost since he's been here. His dead money I think would only be 2 mill, no need to stall the inevitable cut ties and look to sign Tony Jefferson SS from Arizona. ASJ the best TE in years? Maybe because he's been the only TE in years. He's a walking injury, look to upgrade the position if we will actually use it for once. I wouldn't hate bringing him back to fight for a spot but its w.e. Richardson before the season maybe could get you a 2nd now I'm not to sure. 4th or 5th seems likely but if it's a 3rd even better.
thanks man, you beat me to it. i think that marshall gets a bad rap because of his mental health issues of years ago. i know that he has been as much of a team player as decker, but for some reason people always want to call him a bad guy and another guy a good guy. it didnt make a ton of sense to me for the reasons you stated. i happen to like marshall, i think he had more drops than you can have this year and he obviously had some issues in the locker room but lets also remember that most jets fans think the guy he had issues with was an asshole too.
I kinda of agree....if we can only have one.....a great WR in Brandon or a great DE in Sheldon, gotta to WR. In 2015 seeing Marshal make great catch after great catch, snatching long passes just inches above the ground then spinning scoring over 2 guys, grabbing the pass in the endzone over some DB like it's a man catching over a little boy. Shit like that was really fun, lead to 'Fitzmagic', led to a magic 10-6 season. While Richardson can be very good, he can be very immature on and off the field. Doing just about whatever he wants. I get the feeling the way he weighed in a Mo's contract stuff that he can be very immature and disruptive around the building and in the locker room. I guess now we hear he has a problem with Peppers too.
Decker may never be the same reciever after the Shoulder and Hip. He probably won't be effectieve early in the season. Decker isn't ever going to be a firey lockeroom presence, he will be just one of the guys, and that's a good thing on many teams. But the jets lack leadership on the offensive side of the room. Brandon Marshall may be a lot of things. Some say a me first guy, or prick as you define him. One thing is for sure, when dialed in Brandon Marshall is still a top 20 receiver in the NFL. He's the most talente reciever this team has had since #19 This is Brandon's Last year with the Jets and I suspect in his career. I'd cut deck or ask him to restructur. I like Q in the slot and maybe Robbie could be the deep threat as the #2. Maybe we even draft Mike Williams if he's there at 6? Still need a QB, all else is moot
