Jones looked pretty good even in Oakland last year.
made some really tough catches. kind of surprised he didn't take with the Giants..

Thought Flynn would have stuck if we're going with four guys.

Josh Johnson also cut... seems like geNO must be healthier than we've been led to believe.

Ah that explains it...not going with 4 guys.

They can pick either flynn or johnson back up after week 1 and their salary isn't guaranteed...assuming they are still available

Flynn's wouldn't have been guaranteed per Cimini because of previous claimed termination pay. Johnson's would have been guaranteed. If that's true then geNO is likely #2 for week 1. Can't see Macc rolling dice with only Fitz and Petty.

They say smith won't be ready until after week 4, meaning after the bye. I think Petty is definitely #2 in week 1, the risk is minimal and if Fitzgerald gets that hurt that he has to be replaced then Petty would be the #2 anyway even id smith could play.

That's what I thought but why would they roll the dice with Petty as #2 for week 1? I don't get it. Risky move

I don't undestand why they bring in two guys to play one meaningless game, then cut them the next day. It could be a cost saving move, but we could also loose them to another team desperate for a #2-3 QB. Odd.

Money, I saw what somebody said Cimini said but I also saw where three or four people said it would be guaranteed if he was on the roster week 1 so we will see I guess what happens after week 1.

I can't see any risk in making Petty the backup for one game. What's the risk, he may have to play a couple quarters? He can play and it might be a huge surprise when he has starters to throw to.

Not hard to understand really. After Fitz you have 1 guy hurt and 1 guy who shouldn't touch the field all year. So they take a look at 2 guys that you can bring back after week 1 and have as a backup until Geno gets healthy at which point Johnson/Flynn is gone anyway. No point in guaranteeing a season long vet salary to hold the clipboard for week 1.
