I agree with this. If we take a QB with the #4 pick, he best play. If we do that, we know we're not going to be good in 2006 anyway. I'd rather the QB get a season of experience.
Exactly what is insulting about this? Players all the time talk about only wanting what they're worth. The market sets the value for a player and nobody else is going to offer more than $1 million for a 30-year-old QB who has suffered three major injuries in the last three seasons. If Chad recovers fully he will earn his money in incentives, if he doesn't, why should the Jets still be on the hook for $9 million this season? Talk about honouring a contract is hollow - the Jets didn't give that contract to a QB coming off two serious throwing shoulder injuries and they have a right to expect a renegotiation.
I agree. Guys that shoot up like that are very risky. I'd be very happy with Schaub, but then again, I'm not a professional scout so what do I know.
Why is Cutler a reach? I love how so many of you guys say Cutler is a reach at the four pick. Why? Have you guys been scouting these guys all year, conducting your own personal wonderlick tests? Just because some draft boards proclaim Cutler is a 15 pick, does that mean definitively he's a reach at four? Give me a break. Just because Lienart was on a very high profile team with an amazing running back that totally opened the field for him, that makes him better than a guy in a low level program with fantastic college numbers like Cutler? Just because arm chair draft "experts" proclaim Cutler a 15 pick doesn't make it true. A lot of people thought Ryan Leaf was the next Dan Marino.
who did Villanova play? the guy seems decent but not worthy of a #4 pick. pick the best player available at 4 (A.J Hawk if you are trading Abe you need him)
You can't be serious? I am not going to defend Akili, but he was drafted by the Bengals when they were the Bungles to the extreme... Who cares if he was the third QB off the board? It is irrelevant to a players success where and when they are drafted...
I would prefer aaron brooks over cutler because unlike jay, aaron can avoid a sack. Exactly the type of QB the jets will need. If we get A. brooks: it will free us to trade down in the draft and accumulate picks -or- draft DBrick to help protect aaron If we draft Jay Cutler: weve used our 1st rounder and now must wait untill the 2nd round to draft a worse lineman to protect a slower, unproven qb who cant throw as well on the run. since he is cousins with Vick he does have "good blood" (according to the article) but he is a more accurate Vick with better awareness. people always bust on the saints for being so bad but theyd be just like the texans if they didnt have brooks to scramble. Hed be sacked everyother play and people would say its the o-lines fault anyone else see my side?
vaderbilt you putz! and he brought florida to OT, single handedly beat tennesee, all in a good SEC conference
my point was that it is unlikely (due to history) that 3 qbs will go in the top 4, i tihnk we could trade down (10ish) and get him there, then we would have another 2nd or 3rd
Why waste money on Aaron Brooks when we have Bollinger in house? I don't think Brooks is much better.
im feeling a worldwind of events on draft day what if we swap Abe and the #4 to the teams choosing 1-2-3 any takers? this way we get Young or Leinart?
I hate hearing this statement. I'd rate this as like a 10 person draft with Bush, Leinart, Young, Ferguson, Mario Williams, DeAngelo Williams, Vernon Davis, Haloti Ngata, AJ Hawk and Jay Cutler. Everyone after them are lesser versions of the top 10 players. I would be happy with every single one of those players. (Not in that order)
he played for vanderbilt in a Tough SEC. and was considerd by many to be the best qb in the SEC that saying alot with the likes of chris leak, dj shockley and brodie croyle was in the same confrence
dont take me wrong if Cutler is the man so be it i will support the pick. but lets not retire his number just yet as many believe will happen
so, do you watch jets games or no? if you do, then you will see that bollinger is a BORN 3RD STRING!!!!! aaron brooks is a starter in the nfl, especially if he was to come to the jets. are you 2 years old? wait wait wait, i havew the answer, you must be Brooks Bollinger come on Brooks, this sight is for fans, stop it
Yup...but listen I would trade for another 1st round pick...but drafting a lineman should be our 1st priority
