Just a point of note: Codrington was an undrafted kid and the Jets actually picked up a draft pick with this trade. Sounds like a win to me.
Yeboah is on the injured list making three. If Kuntz clears waivers I think he ends up on the practice squad giving us 4.
Yeah…I’m not losing sleep over it, but Kuntz hasn’t proven to be ready yet, and Yeboah will miss the first 4 games, so at least for that stretch, we’ll only have two TEs available to play unless they make any other moves. Again, not that we play a lot of 3 TE sets but for now at least, we couldn’t even if we wanted to. Just thought it was a bit surprising is all…
I’m more worried about keeping that many defensive lineman and how it affects special teams, particularly punt and kick return coverage teams. While they don’t have to run as far as kickoffs, you generally want backup tightends, corners, receivers, safeties operating those units. Two tightends also means what? Is Conklin going to be a wingback on field goals and extra points? Or is it gonna be Michael Clemons and friends?
Well there was a bidding war for his services that the Jets won over multiple offers. Then he proceeded to play quite well all preseason. But nobody is going to want him anymore
Is Watts 26? Holy crap! That makes it even more surprising that they kept him. Must have been because of the big bonus the Jets gave him for signing.
Can't find anything about Jets waiver claims. Did we make any? I saw Buffalo claimed Mike White yesterday.
Couple of released players might be worth looking at: OT David Bahktiari I was very against trading for him and paying him anything near his GB contract. Injuries and age have caught up. But for a cheap vet backup contract? If he’s willing to accept cheap 1 yr deal might be worth a workout. TE Donald Parham Effective red zone target. At 6’8” and lean he doesn’t offer much as a blocker which is likely why Harbaugh let him go. The Jets also want to run more. And like Kuntz, at that height you are not playing specials or h back snaps. Essentially just a tall slot WR, which makes it a harder path to a team. WR Donovan Peoples Jones Still young and with some good experience. Would upgrade Brownlee, but we might be better off with a deep threat burner to keep attention off Wilson. That’s what we missing. Like Robbie Anderson speed, even if fly routes are a one trick, as Rodgers can still chuck it. Not a very inspiring list, but worth a look. Anyone else seeing other players to consider ?
