Where the hell are people getting the idea that this would take up a roster spot? Of course, this will NOT require a roster spot. wtf?
As long as it doesn't mean a roster spot then of course I wouldn't mind. I doubt they'd go through the legal motions of free agency anyway just so he can suit up for the game.
To be honest, one of my biggest regrets as a jet fan is that we didnt get curtis a superbowl. and chrebet too for that matter, the guy is not even living life the same after his nfl career. I guess alot of people might say that who were around for the sack exchange too, that was before my time. But curtis and wayne were so goddamned classy and worked so hard you just wish they couldve beat the goddamn broncos with a ten point lead at the half ah fuck ..................ill never live that game down, lets win this sunday.
Curtis was pissed he got traded from the Pats. He wanted to be a Patriot initially. Where was Curtis during the 4-12 season?
It's nice that a new regime with Rex Ryan is allowing the team to embrace the players from the past by allowing them to be on the sidelines and around the team as much as they have been this year. I know as a fan, I enjoy seeing some of the "old timers" mulling about.
Not sure it is needed, but if it is...I'm thinkin, there isn't a man on this team that wouldn't give up his slot for a week so CMart could suit up......In fact, I'd bet the house on it.....
Curtis Martin is my favorite Jet of all time hands down, he represents New Jersey when he ran that rock, gritty, always on the grind, just a straight up hustler on the field, God do I miss him no homo
An honary captian does not count as a roster spot... it is usually someone who is on the reserved / retired list... "The role of the honorary captain is to accompany the team's captains to midfield prior to the opening coin toss. The championship game tradition of having an honorary captain is generally reserved for a player, coach or administrator who has had a profound impact on a franchise's success and allows fans to recognize the contributions of the individual."
id feel weird being on the sidelines wearing pads and a helmet knowing im not even actually on the roster or even allowed to play.
