So you wanted the jets to overspend on players rather than be wise w/ their money and have cap room? I am not sure what your real complaint is- comparing them to an MLB team isn't fair since there isn't a cap in MLB and even w/ that the Mets did the same thing w/their Mgr as the Jets did w/ their coach. they went w/ an unproven Mgr just like the Jets did w/ their HC. Building new LRs, Stadiums, etc.. helps them attract FAs and pay the signing bonuses. The jets have done nothing but winunder Woody, 4 PO seasons in 7 years is a great run for this franchise. How can you compare him to the Devil rays who have one non-last place finish in their 10 year history?
That's actually a positive factor in terms of somebody's ability to put together an offer that would appeal to Blank. Buying one of the high value teams is not going to happen without an over-price offer, taking it out of the realm of a CMart partnership.
Dunno if this is new, or adds anything, but came across it, and it seems to be from this month: http://www.ajc.com/falcons/content/sports/falcons/stories/2007/09/07/martin_0907.html
intresting, it would have been great for C-mart to snag some jets ownership... but the falcons will be good as well. Better than any AFC East team.
Curtis was just on the NFL network talking to Rich & TD...he talked about his close friendship with TD going back to a predraft meeting in alabama when they were both coming out of college...he also talked about Chad's intelligence as a QB in knowing pretty much everyones duties on offense andleading a team and basically seemed to imply it was a no brainer with all this Chad/Clemens talk who he thought was #1... Finally when asked about spygate he said how surprised he was with the whole affair...how Kraft as a man of interity and BB is a genius who wouldn't need to resort to such lows...this led up to the ownership talk and he said that he didn't want to disclose much but it was in the works and as a rookie he dreamed more of being an owner than a player... He seemed very content in retirement...I'm still wondering which team he will own as it looked like he was very sure the deal would be finalized....
