I don't know why everyone thinks Pennington would be a good Qb coach nor do I understand why anyone would want him coaching Sanchez. The guy has terrible mechanics as a QB and for all we heard about his smarts never came across as a football smart kind of QB. Last thing I want is for Penny to start pussifying Sanchez.

As for HCs I agree with Mick, it will be the guys that are barely scraping by as NFL players that go on to become great HCs

Right. The exception to that rule would be Eric Mangini though....

Every one of these suggestions is a complete guess, Peyton Manning isn't any more likely to become a head coach than Brett Ratliff.

No we are all 100% sure they will become coaches, this thread is only definite ones.

I bet Drew Coleman ends up winning the Super Bowl as a HC someday.

Peyton Manning maybe could be a good color analyst, but I think Matt Hasselbeck would be even better. I wonder if Manning would be better in the studio much like Dan Marino (not that he's good) or Boomer Esiason. However, Hasselbeck, has top notch color analyst written all over him. Hasselbeck is intelligent and has a great personality.

As for coaches, Jerricho Cotchery is probably going to become one. If I remember correctly, his father was a coach at some level (not in the NFL) and I think I've seen a quote from him at one point where he stated he'd like to get into coaching. I betcha Cotchery will be a wide receivers coach to start and then he'll go from there.

Todd Collins will be a coach someday.

Ray Lewis (insane work ethic and knowledge of the game. a passion for the game unrivaled by most. not to mention hes probably top 5 all time at his position.)

Peyton Manning (need I say more?)

Even as a Giants' fan, I would be surprised by that. I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up a QB coach and MAYBE an OC. But I think Eli's personality lends itself more towards being a positional coach and just improving his craft until he decides to retire.

And I can see Antonio Pierce becoming an HC someday. His knowledge of the game is intense and he's not a physically gifted player. Those seem to be the type that make effective HCs.

I always like LB's and OL. I can't think of too many WRs, RBS or QB's that became great coaches.

Although I'd hardly call them great coaches but Gary Kubiak and Sean Payton both played QB (albiet backup) but look like good coaches.

Ken Whisenhunt and Mike Ditka were TE's

Jeff Fisher and Tony Dungy played DB

BTW 6 former players have won the SB as head coaches

Landry, Noll, Cowher, Dungy, Ditka, and Shula

Madden was drafted by the Eagles but never played

A few others have lost in the SB Dan Reeves, Fisher, Raymond Berry (I wonder if Pats fan know who he is?) Forrest Gregg, and Whisenhunt

Perfect for one of the new struggling leagues like the UFL or the returning USFL. He'd put a few butts in seats, at least and provide some entertainment
