Won't Simms be signed back to the practice squad like he always is? Unless of course he doesn't clear waivers and is snatched up by somebody else. Or does he now have too many years in the league for that?
Under the new rules he is PS eligible. It will be interesting what they do with the PS spot after cutting both Boyd and Simms. I'd prefer Simms over Boyd on the 53 but Boyd over Simms on the PS. Glad we went with 2 this year
I see that someone hopes the Jets sign the Matthews kid from QB to the PS. How about Jeff Tuel? I've seen him play in a couple of preseason games and he looked pretty good. He has a good arm and is very mobile. Seems to me he would fit right into our offense. I don't know anything about the Matthews kid. Is he mobile or is he more of a traditional pocket QB that isn't very mobile?
I'm surprised about Simms. The Jets could decide to pick up a 3rd. Qb. Simms didn't look that good in preseason. And he's probably making more than a rookie. I'd like to pick up Thad Lewis whose started a few games and looked good for the Bills last year:
Couple of notes... ---I assume they will put Simms on PS or will pick up a 3rd QB. ---Quincy Enumwa made the team, I know he's on ST's a lot, and I saw him made some decent plays there, maybe that's how he made the team. ---Dozier making it means they have 9 OL, we'll see how that goes going into the season. ---Barnes made it, figured he had a chance ---George, ICE and Reilly made it, much youth as backups right now, especially on the outside, I'm kinda worried/intrigued to see more the outside guys if they make it to play in key games in key spots. ---LeQuan Lewis makes it, Allen is at CB...I assume this maybe "for now" to scour the waiver wire...there is some wiggle room on the roster to make some moves I feel.

It's not like it's never happened to the Jets before. Carrying 2 Qb one of which is older and fragile is asking for trouble. Its a risky bet no matter how much you might hate your 3rd option at Qb. I don't know what you got against Matt Simms but he's not around anymore for you to kick. The Jets did him a favor and I hope he takes full advantage of it.
Yeah, the Jets did him a favor. I'm sure he will become the next greatest backup QB to ever walk this earth. He's finally free from the Jets who were just holding him down for so long. Taj Boyd will likely clear waivers and become part of the practice squad. If one goes down, we will activate him. I'd worry more about other things than losing the next Peyton Manning of the sideline, Matt Simms.
Neither lol I could just give a shit about the third string QB position. I thought Taj Boyd stank this preseason and I thought Matt Simms looked like a twelve year old girl. Well, he always looks like a twelve year old girl, but he played like on this offseason.
I think letting Simms go was a mistake. He will be picked up and while at the moment he is not a starter, he has requisites to become one in a couple of years. Good for Simms, but IMO this is a mistake of FO.
