You can't cut him, lets give him a break. We knew he was a project and he lost essentially the entire offseason this past year. We invested too high a pick on him to let him go. I wasn't on board with the pick from the get go as my thinking was you don't use a high pick on a project (see Scott Frost) but you also have to give the project a fair shot and because of the lockout. If he still looks like garbage next season by all means send him packing but you have to give him a full offseason before you make that decision.

some thoughts on the draft, etc.

    Glad to see McElroy IR'

Before the draft I wanted to get either Wilkerson or Ellis.

Never thought we would get both, what a "coupe!"

I'm not glad to see McIlroy go to IR.... I what I saw out of him and would feel more confident with him in there then Brunell or the Irishman. I guess my point is I wouldn't completely feel like our season was over with Mc in there if Sahcize went down. That being said preseason against 2nd and 3rd teamers is a different animal than a game against the Giants or Pats.

That's the thing, how he would respond to playing against real teams is the question.

Its good that he'll be sitting and learning all year. The kid has a head on his shoulders. He'll be a viable backup in a couple of years.

Cumberland is the guy i'm most excited about. I think this kids got the talent to become a very good TE for us.

Personally I like him but I never want to see him on the field unless he turns into Tom Brady.

I think he's more viable than O'Connell or Brunell though... but you can't have an injured 3rd QB when your #2 QB is 40 yrs old...

That said I wonder if O'connell stciks the whole season or if we bring back Clemens.

All I care is that he plays like him if needed...

O'Connell is one thing, but to put GMac above Brunell can't happen yet.

Brunell has had nearly 20 years of NFL experience. A 7th round rookie with lots of promise can't be put above him.

MTV and Trufant both back today, most likely PS. That means somebody is gone as that puts them one over. Any ideas who?

If I had to wager, either Posey or Canfield.

Everybody is saying MTV is back and on PS. Only she is saying Trufant is, maybe she doesn't know who he is.

    JennyVrentas Jenny Vrentas
Isaiah Trufant is in Jets locker room. Looks like he re-signed, assuming practice squad. #nyj

Right now he's out of a job, wouldn't he have to sign a new contract? I can't imagine he has too many contract demands right now.

Man, it's really gotta suck for these guy who are on the "final"roster on cut down day thinking they made the team only to be released in the days leading up to the start of the season. That goes for the PS guys too. Oh well, that's life.

I suspect O'Connell is just a place-holder for Clemens, given that Clemens money would be guaranteed for the year if he were signed prior to Thursday (or is it Sunday?) Makes more sense to have Clemens - at least he's played.

I don't like our depth at QB at all. Reminds me of 19.... ain't even going to write it.

All vested veterans get their salary guaranteed for the year if they are on the roster on Saturday. Clemens is a vested veteran. I'm pretty sure this part of the CBA cannot be negotiated away.

If I got the year correct:

We have an aging Vet playing out of his mind, a guy who could never hack it as a signal caller, and a young black QB who did okay in his time here?

Not a fan of it either but I'm guessing we needed to grab somebody. I doubt teams were clamoring for O Connell but maybe Mc is gonna be out of commision for longer then they anticipated so IRing him was the best move.
