    Honestly if the Mets fail to make the playoffs it's not because of the batters. Yes many have been less than stellar when the pressure is on but when you consider the Mets have lost 30 games when leading after 7 innings it has nothing to do with not being able to hit a baseball and everything to do with not getting guys out.

    There is no quick fix but a bullpen overhaul is definately in order

    Just a couple of guys I'd entertain if I was the Mets are

    Joe Biemel
    Dan Wheeler
    Will Ohman

    One of the batters may have to be traded to get some quality pitching. That was essentially my point.

    If those relievers you have noted were good this year, they'll probably suck in 2009.

    I don't think even Omar would trade great every day players for relievers. The Mets will probably overpay for K-Rod then they just need to get a couple righties to replace Sanchez and Heilman.

    Not a batter for relievers.

    I wrote "quality pitching." Relievers are not quality pitchers.
