As promising as Walls looked, Rex's defense can never have enough CB. Plus, Cro is still a leader to the young secondary. Regardless of cap situation, if the Jets trade Cro, I think it would stunt the development of our young DB core. Last I heard, Jets ain't tanking yet.
Probably be on the hook for about half of that hit on a trade. Sent from my HTCEVODesign4G using Tapatalk 2
1) Millner isn't ready to play CB every down 2) Walls isn't ready to play CB every down A move like you're suggesting would show me Idzik is gonna drag this Jets franchise through some very dark years. Cro needs to stay on this roster.
Cro restructured this season - so his cap figure this season is some 5M, but next year, it balloons to near 15M. Find a dumb suitor that will take it, AND give a high pick. I'm in.
Cro is much more valuable to us than he would be to any other team I think. Especially with his perceived baggage. We could likely get a 4th rounder, 3rd at best I think.
Cro looked stiff to start the year last season. Walls is better than expected but he's not ready for a starter role. Trading Cro means more Wilson and nobody wants that.
he'd likely re-work his deal I figure he'll be shopped this off-season and if Idzik does make a move shipping Cro out to a team like......New Orleans or Cincinnati, guys who need corners then he'd maybe try and grab Byron Maxwell from Seattle to step in and play #2 Corner for us instead of getting a rookie If we could get a 1 or 2 for Cro plus cap relief in the off-season I'd do it depending on Milliner's growth and who we get to start on the outside
I would do it but his trade value was was higher in the offseason. I remember reading that if he was traded in then, it would result in approx $10M in cap savings. Is that still the case now?
You are overvaluing Cro's affect on the D. If we can trade Revis and field a top 5 defense, trading Cro will not hurt that much. This year's iteration is built completely different, the strength of the defense is the front 7. As long as we can create pressure, it really doesn't matter who is back there. The only thing that would prevent me from making the trade is the lack of value and/or cap implications.
I thought Cro looked good at the beginning of last year, and he was a pretty physical player, but he benefited greatly from having nobody on the other side of the field from him. This year, teams are testing him and he is looking like the Cro that we got in trade from SD. Doesn't read the WR well, relies far too much on physical ability, and sucks against short routes with hard cuts. He's probably actually injured, because when WRs go long, his hips turn like and old man. But I think that the trade deadline may be too soon to part with him. He does have his advantages and I think that Rex can figure out the matchups that benefit his skills if Walls does actually pan out. Milliner is disappointing so far, and if he is going to develop, it's probably going to take longer than that. And Rex loves having a ton of athletic corners. Not sure he would sign off on trading Cro this year. But your idea isn't out of the question. I think his trade value is a 3 pick with the Jets taking the cap hit or a 6 pick with another team eating the cap hit. ------- And dude, I enjoy your posts, so I am saying this out of respect - please go to Tapatalk settings and choose "None" for the signature. A lot of people are putting too much value on Cro on these forums. He has played so bad these last 3 games IMO not to mention his contract Is rediculous. Sent from my HTCEVODesign4G using Tapatalk 2
