I think Revis is just that deceptive. He looks like he's not even trying out there due to how he runs and moves. Its very nonchalant.
We keep pressuring the QB the way we have so far these first 2 games, it could be another 10 INT season for Cromartie. They pressure Campbell, they should get at least 2 more on Sunday. I'd say at least one INT goes Cro's way.
Honestly, as a Raiders fan, I agree with this. That was always the big knock on Nnamdi in my opinion. Yeah it's great that he shuts one side of the field down, but when you go an entire season without a sack, INT, or fumble recovery, did you really add that much to the team?
If the Raiders had a decent team while he was in Oakland. It would have meant more. With Revis, the Jets can play 10 on 10 football and do a lot more on defense because the #1 WR is going to be held to a catch or two for 25 yards. It allows the safeties and the front 7 to play differently. Nnamdi couldn't really have that impact because the offenses were so anemic in Oakland for such a long time, and the fact that coaches were changed on almost a yearly basis.
this right here. its funny all those Raiders fans want to sound like Aso wasnt great there then blow him when hes an eagle i just find it funny people dont understand that low INT totals for the likes of Aso and Revis derive directly from the fact nobody is open to throw to consistently. as in doing their fucking job. as interesting as Fantasy Football is, it has created a new breed of idiocy in all fan bases.
If you completely neutralize one player or one side of the field for purposes of the passing game while also contributing solid tackles in the running game, you added huge value to the team. He belongs right up there with Revis in the very top tier of NFL cornerbacks. Lest we forget, before Revis's breakout year in 2009, Asomugha had what so many analysts considered to be the best year ever for a CB. I just think that he didn't choose his new team wisely. His contributions will be minimized because the Eagles are so weak down the middle. When a team can run and pass to tight ends on your defense at will, it doesn't matter how many receivers you can silence. I think the Jets have the best cornerback corps in the NFL because of Kyle Wilson's emergence and Donald Strickland's return to the team, but the Eagles are no doubt second in line if that's the case. Even so, they still gave up 35 to the Falcons while Gonzalez and Turner had huge games. Can't win Super Bowls like that.
Nnamdi>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Cromartie. Nnamdi's a shutdown corner who puts in work every week. Cro is feast or famine
Madden and Fantasy have generated a generation of fans that will never understand the game. And then add in the instant gratification/entitlement of that generation which doesn't allow draft picks to develop anymore. The divide between knowledgeable and the tards is only going to increase in the coming years of football fans.
If Cromartie isn't intercepting passes, he's getting burnt deep. If Asomugha is getting thrown at, he's knocking it down. That's all there is to it.
Cromartie may very well be the most explosive athlete playing corner in the NFL. That obviously doesn't make him the best corner, just the best athlete playing the position. With a single play, he can have a greater impact than almost anyone, but he can also kill you with dumb mistakes.
This is assuming you believe allowing one catch for 14 yards against Julio Jones is getting burned by Roddy White.
When he plays like he did last week, consistently, every week... then he can be thought of that way, until then he is just another CB, but still a freakish athlete
He added a tremendous amount. None of those stats matter if he basically takes one player away from the opposing offense. I give Nnamdi the nod over Revis only because he did it longer but both of them are shut down corners. Revis will never have Woodson stats because opposing QBs don't throw there. Reggie Wayne was target 0 times by Peyton Manning in last years AFC WC. ZERO target by a first ballot HOFmer QB who has incredible numbers and is as precise as a surgeon throwing balls. Thats a huge impact. The only knock on Nnamdi is his staying on one side of the feild rather than moving around.
