The McKnight stat is nice but I think it's a little misleading. I'm not hating on him at all, I really like him but everybody's return average is up this year. Taking balls out of the endzone that are 6-9 yards deep with regularity will do that. That being said--40 per return is pretty sick. Hope he keeps it up. He's exciting as hell to watch. And Revis. He's fucking unreal.
The coverage starts further downfield, so it shouldn't make a difference. Also, he still has a big lead over everyone else.
No. I just tried 1000 attempt, 0 completion, 0 yard and 1000 INT. I ended up with a handy result of 0.0. Edit: Same criteria earned -200 rating in NCAA rules.
If he continues to shut down WRs at this rate, and keeps coming up with INTs, I don't think there is any way he could be denied the DPOY.
Here's a crazy stat, my friend Jim is 4-0 attending Jet games dating back to 2008, he went with me this past week. Madness.
Thats wrong. The reason why kicks are 6-9 yards deep is because where the kickers are kicking from. The coverage still has to cover the same distance. It has nothing to do with the 5 yard difference.
I posted this in the Revis worship thread.. It's something like 184 for Revis and 112 for his opponents. Also he's picked off or knocked down just as many passes as he's allowed to be completed.. 10 each.
Here's the tweet- "Revis has been thrown at 33 times in 2011. He has caught or batted away as many passes (4 INTs, 6 PDs) as he has allowed receptions (10)" According to ESPN and NFL.com Revis has 10 PDs so it's even better.
Revis better win DPOY. Hes been outstanding this year, and on top of that he has those fancy interceptions that usually draw the votes.
The return average in the top 20 is only up 1.5 yards per returner. That doesn't explain a 40 yard per return average.
