Living in Miami, I'm fortunate to be near a good deal of microbreweries surprisingly. This is a fantastic chain bar/restaurant that is one of the world's biggest in terms of # draft beers:

    http://www.yardhouse.com/default.aspx

In terms of good beers not mentioned, I'll throw one into the mix and say that Victory Hop Devil is a winner. This is a good one for you IPA drinkers out there (my favorite kind of brew).

To other posters out there saying that we are wine snobs or that beer is beer.. I feel sorry for you. You're missing out on a whole 'nother world.

Try the Victory Hop Wallop. Not sure if they have it at the yardhouse.

They have a yardhouse here in SD I go to sometimes.

I love their house salad, the Asian one.

Word. Ithaca makes a decent brew, for sure.

Pats hater....I agree with you on the turbo dog and purple haze. Their Amber and Light beer and the beer I mentioned before are all winners. I wouldn't call them craft beers, but your 6 or 12-pack is gone before you know it.

I'vr never acquired a taste for Barleywine.

Had the Green Flash West Coast IPA and thought it was great. Still a big fan of Ruination though. The pub I frequent often has Hop Devil and I will try it next time it is in the rotation. Did have Bear Republic Black Raven Porter at the pub which is now featuring Bear Republic including Racer 5 and Racer X. I'll have to go back soon!

Sierra Nevada Celebration Ales are excellent. The Anniversary Ale (?) from last year was out of this world.

Was at the Karl Strauss Brewing Company two years ago during a family vacation. Wish I could remember if it was good or not, which probably means it wasn't. Got a cool shirt.

You probably don't remember it because Strauss is miserable.

Where is this pub you speak of? Sounds like a place I frequent in Mass.

The place is Holy Smoke in Mahopac, NY: www.holysmokebbq.net

A great place in Boston is The Publick House (www.eatgoodfooddrinkbetterbeer.com). Heavy into Belgian & Belgian Style beers but decent selection of crafts as well. Also has store and related restaurant American Craft, which I've not been to.

Was in Boston looking at colleges with our son this summer and actually spent my wedding anniversary at The Publick House. I'm a lucky guy!

There is a Yardhouse somewhere near/in the Boston area now.

Mahopac sounds like Strong Island? I work down in East Moriches some times, is it close?

At $29 a case Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra IPA has become my go to beer. I'm a fan of most of the IPA/DIPA mentioned. However the DFH 120 Minute really is much more of a barleywine than a pale ale to me.

The can/keg/5L versions of the traditional European green bottle beers are so much better than the light struck skunked bottle versions. Fresh tasting kegged Budvar at most of the NY sports venues is a positive result of the Bud Inbev joining.

Mahopac is in Putnam County, just north of Westchester.

That sounds amazing...is that even available in NY? The SN I mean.

Some of the beers I like

    Sierra Nevada India Pale Ale
Lagunitas IPA- 3 dollar drafts at Barrow St Ale House in NYC 4-8, I believe. Easy, quality beer
    Stone Arrogant Bastard
    Rogue Dead Guy
    Six Point Sweet Action
Anchor Steam and Anchor Steam Summer
    Blue Point Hoptical Illusion
    Bear Republic Red Rocket Ale
    Butternuts Moo Thunder Stout
    Keegan's Mothers Milk

I'm sure there are a dozen more I've been drinking lately. I like to walk into a bar and try whatever has a nice hue.

We have 2 Yardhouses in Vegas , I'm a big fan. The food is surprisingly really good too. It's a shame though because we closed the Salt Lick BBQ to open the other.

As far as American Craft Beers I am a huge fan of

    Full Sail Pale Ale
    Anchor Steam
    Shiner Bock
    Alaskan Smoked Portor

Have you had Shiner Black lager? Its like the bock with more taste. Probably one of my favorite beers. Its unbelievable how the beer is soo dark (literally black) but its still not a heavy beer

I know a few people who swear by it as a hangover cure.
$2.69 for one can? Is that a joke?
