He did that a lot in preseason too. He reminds me a lot of Derek Anderson in that regard, as well as his size, arm strength, mechanics, and pocket presence. Obviously I'm not about to write him off, but that concerns me a lot.
I don't care who wins the starting QB job as long as he gets the job done. However, if I had to choose a personal favorite I would say Ratliff. He's the underdog and IMO he seems more mentally mature as a QB. He has had to fight to get where he is and has a cool confidence about him. Also, in very limited action, he seems much more comfortable in the pocket. That warrants an opportunity against better competition. But like I said, if Clemens wins the job and the team wins then I'm on board. Let's just win some games!
I saw Ratliff play against UCLA, statistically not a very good effort but I remember coming away impressed. The UCLA defense was extremely good that year and he made some very impressive throws.
If I remember correctly, all his teammates are professionals. We are set at QB. (Trade a late pick for Colt Brennan.)
I said this back a couple months ago..what I like about this kid the most is that he has a very very quick release. Not sure if he is the goods but I wouldnt be surprised at all if this kid beats out KC.
Too bad none of the 32 teams watched this, surely they wouldn't have passed on him approximately 7 times each.
