Now the cap has been set at 182.5m, does anyone know how much we have to spend to keep within the spending rules?
Aaron Jones would be a cool signing. He is a humble, hardworking multi-dimensional type back we could use I'd bring in Carlos Dunlap too. can never have enough pass rushers
I wouldn't mind Dunlap for the vet min. Could be a cheap rotational player. I think that's where he's at in his career. Jones could be a good pickup if he doesn't demand high dollar. He maybe the top rb on the market. I honestly would like Tevin Coleman. He could be cheap, knows the scheme, and has performed well in it.
I agree, thought I'm not even sure we see a bug signing. I could see several tier 2 or lower. Like Gabe Jackson, maybe Curtis Samuel, Sherman, maybe Dunlap for vet min. That kinda thing.
I could see him making a run at thuney. that's about it. galladay would be nice to pair with mims on the outside and crowder in the slot
I would prefer Galladay. I like him for sure. I could care less about Thuney as he will be way over paid. I think we could get almost as good or better out of Jackson for way cheaper.
Golladay is made of glass and because of that too rich for my blood John Brown released by Buffalo, who are up against the cap. Speed speed speed and cheap.
Brown is a #2 which we already have. Mims needs to develop for us. Brown would be very bad as a #1. Has the speed, but not reliable enough hands and routes imo. Hard pass. I definitely prefer Samuel. If Galladay didn't have health issues he would be tier 1 hands down. It definitely could go bad. But that's the gamble. If JD gave him one of his special deals. 2 years with and easy out. He would be better than Brown for sure.
zietler is a name to watch out for. giants released him for cap room but he's still an above average starting OG
Remember it is 89% of total cap in cash spend, not the way it is calculated for cap ceiling purposes as well. Signing and roster bonuses and the like count in full the day they are paid, not spread over the duration of the deal.
When JD says he wants to be strong in trenches I think he means it. He will go high for Thuney. That's number one.
With the amount of options we have, I'm really starting to sour on the thought of handing Thuney a blank check. And make no mistake, that's what we'll have to do to get him. I'm leaning towards signing Linsley, moving McGovern to guard and then rolling with Van Roten while we draft his replacement (maybe Cameron Clark is that guy?). Priority HAS to be WR right out of the gate. Lock up either Samuel (my preference) or Galladay then work on sifting through the plethora of OL available.
