Joe, I loved Clark Gaines and Kirk Springs, Steve Tannen (The Bust) was a big disappointment

Those unis were outstanding. Clean and bold. I love them. Of course, like everything the Jets do, they fucked them up with the bright green and black accents.

The namath-era original version of the current set is solid. The current one is very good, but the design hasn't translated very well to the current equipment standards. The lack of meaningful sleeves makes the shoulder stripes look stupid, and that fucking tummy square is just awful. And the introduction of green pants . . . . excuse me while I go eat a Maalox.

Just one man's opinion. But its the correct one.

I have said this many times before but I'd love the see the 80s style uni's w/ the current darker green we have now.

Exactly. I loved the old shoulder stripes with the offset color, the new ones don't work as well.

That's an understatement. Who thought that was a good idea?

I only like the white jerseys now.

when I say current green, I mean the current color it is supposed to be, the ones on the reebok jerseys from a few years ago not the way they look w/ the material the Nike ones are made from.

Know what you mean. Guy had good measurables, and awards galore coming out of OU.

Curiously, I went back to the 2004 draft and an interesting thing jumped out. For a guy who was a multi-year starter at OU, won the Bronco Nagurski and Jim Thorpe awards and was a 1st team All-American, it's interesting to note that he was the 10th CB taken (3rd rd.) behind even the immortal Ricardo Colclough (Steelers-2nd rd.) out of noted powerhouse Tusculum College (TN).

the bright side, we did draft Cotchery in the 4th round and Jonathan Vilma in the 1st. Speaking of Vilma (and Jet LBs), had the Jets not gotten rid of them all (e.g. Vilma because Mangenius had to go 3-4), the Jets LB corp would've been Jonathan Vilma, James Farrior and John Abraham...gulp...

This post may need it's own thread but isn't this board usually a lot more lively this time of year? I'm not sensing the same usual excitement. It could be me projecting my own strange indifference about the upcoming season onto others.
